  1. Thanks Stephen, it was a great trip! Thank you so much for being such a great host. Once that weather cleared in Missouri it really all came together quickly. It’s hard to believe we are able to cross the country by Mooney in 2 days (even with the headwinds!) and now I’m waiting for my Delta ride home tonight. You did a great job interviewing the next caretakers of N9150V. I really wish I could have spent more time here in Oakland with Johnny! We did get a quick flight in around the bay which I enjoyed! So beautiful
  2. Sure would be nice to fly the other direction! Headwinds were brutal but the goal for today was Belen NM, so that was achieved. Airplane is flying great. If the weather allows, I should be able to make Oakland tomorrow afternoon.
  3. Already have a Multi? Seriously, I would find out what the delay is with the FAA. Before making phone calls you can go here: https://amsrvs.registry.faa.gov/amsrvs/Logon.asp and then on the right column under Certificate select Request Verification of Certificate Privileges. They will send you an immediate email with what their records currently show for you as far as pilot certificate and medical.
  4. You all are going about this the wrong way, just go take another checkride and get another temporary ticket. Why stop at commercial?
  5. I don't know if the same crew is still there but I bought my Mooney out of Michigan a few years ago and had the pre-purchase inspection completed at Lapeer airport D95. There was a Mooney service center (not sure if they still are?) there and the guys were really accommodating during the inspection allowing my Mooney friend and I access to everything while the airplane was opened up. I had a real good feeling about them and really appreciated how welcoming they were allowing us in the workshop. Hopefully that is an option as it is just north of Detroit. Where is it located exactly? That's my old stomping grounds growing up.
  6. I’m at 196.4hrs last 12 months, this airplane is dialed in and an absolutely a joy to fly. Plenty of trips, and Instrument, Commercial and Multi-engine rating achieved. A good aviation year for me!
  7. Saw this one sitting pretty on the ramp as I departed Hampton GA this evening. He travelled Dallas TX to Hampton GA in 3:26. Hopefully the winds calm down for his trip back home
  8. I love seeing other Mooney’s on the ramp. A few weeks ago in Nashville we were walking out to my F to head home and I saw this one parked next to me! I actually forgot I took this picture until I saw this post. Anybody from here?
  9. That is the RV pump shroud sold on Spruce. This is the one I used to replace my worn out Mooney original. A couple minutes work with a few cuts here and there. Shorten the skirt so nothing rubs and elongate the holes so you can slide the cover over the top of the pump (instead of trying to fit the lines through the holes into the pump). Highly recommended.
  10. Hi Frank @MooneyPoor, How about I fly Johnny's Mooney to California and then yours back to Georgia Hard to believe you found one better than that beauty you sold, seller's remorse got you shopping?
  11. I may be able to work this into my schedule. 400+ hrs of M20F time (Johnson & Electric gear), my total time is 800+. I'm in Atlanta GA so it's easy to airline to the Mooney and to get me back home. -Joe 77o-776-9oo7 Private pilot Glider/CSEL, IFR, High Performance, TW & Complex
  12. One of the best bang for the buck airplanes made and Pacer/Tri-pacers have one of the best support groups I’ve ever seen. Steve Pierce is a super guy and bends over backwards to support this community (he is the Clarence of short-winged Pipers). Spend some time on http://www.shortwingpipers.org and you’ll soon be an expert.
  13. I have no idea what happened in this instance. That area is a bit of a black hole at night with little ground reference lighting. A few years ago I departing into solid blackness there, I had plenty of night experience but no instrument rating at the time. Once I lifted off the runway and pitched up I had to go straight to the instruments, all I could think about was keeping it level in a climb and clearing the trees. Absolutely no perceived motion in the airplane and solid blackness all around. I had another 2+ hours to go from there in that trip, but 10-15 minutes north of the airport I realized my head was still not right after that experience and I returned to Cynthiana for the night. Safe and sound, solid nights sleep and continued the trip to MI the next morning. Probably one of the best aviation decisions I’ve made.
  14. I saw this post on my FB feed from one of my favorite airports, Cynthiana Harrison County Airport. Absolutely amazing that all 3 survived from the looks of this picture! "At approximately 6:30pm on 11/19 a Cessna 172 crashed at the airport with three occupants (no fatalities). Please check notams for the airport before planning your flight on 11/20."
  15. I bought Bose and my brother bought Lightspeed. All these years we always say to each other mine is better than yours when we would fly together but we never swapped headsets with each other to see for ourselves! He’ll probably tell me “I told you so” at the Thanksgiving table this year.
  16. I did see that in my email first thing this AM but figured if they want me to have it they’ll throw it in the package. I wasn’t going to ask for more when she took care of my immediate need so easily!
  17. I try really really hard not to talk bad about people that have done me wrong, but when someone goes above and beyond to do something right I have to share. So my wife and daughter have been flying with me more often this year so we’ve been on the hunt for the right headsets to upgrade for them. I’ve been a Bose A20 user since they were launched, I still use that headset and love it. No complaints except the $1100 purchase price (which isn’t really bad over a 10+ year period when you think about it). I saw a trade in promotion for Lightspeed and thought, hmm, I think the headset my wife has been using is an ancient Lightspeed Mach 1 that I used when flying gliders, got to be 15 years old or so. Out to the plane I go and sure enough they are, and Lightspeed offers $100 for it as a trade-in, so I ordered a Zulu 3 last night. When I received the confirmation email it said to allow 2 days for order processing...uh oh, we really wanted them for a trip next week. So I call Lightspeed today to tell them my woes and they really stepped up! We should have the new headset possibly tomorrow or Monday at no extra costs. I offered to pay extra for shipping and she refused saying they wanted to make sure that I had them in time. Unreal customer service from Lightspeed Aviation! I don’t know how they will compare to my Bose but I’m happy to give them a try, maybe I’ll give the old Bose to my daughter and keep the new Zulu’s for me! (My wife likes the lightweight in-ear style over headsets so we ordered a Clarity Aloft Classic for her.) Anyway, LightSpeed Aviation, go here to purchase: https://www.lightspeedaviation.com/product-category/headsets/ Happy flying!
  18. I almost fell out of my chair reading this...that’s a lot of labor hours for a Surefly install. Do you still have the access panels in front of the windscreen or no? Something must be more difficult to access on your E than my F. My install was started and finished in a day (not sure exactly how many hours as I wasn’t recording that) with installation of the surefly, running power wire to the battery (rear mounted), fabrication of a new “p-lead”, rewiring the ignition switch, removal of the shower of sparks and the unused associated wiring. Hopefully you don’t get the momentary ignition cutout after “L” ignition check back to “Both”, I think the new ones have different software? That’s the only thing I’m not impressed with so far with Surefly as it makes my wife raise an eyebrow every time I do it.
  19. Braided cable from the top of the right side/co-pilot foot well to the accessory case of the engine (If I remember correctly, mine goes to one of the studs for the gov. adapter plate)
  20. @macanimal 20 7/8” from the fuel selector drain to the ground (67 F)
  21. There is a Mooney Mite based there, I think your C will be ok with prop clearance.
  22. The Mooney handles Peachstate beautifully, you’ll find mine there several times a week! The fuel prices can’t be beat. Come by for some great food, airplanes, people and 100LL!
  23. I found the email response on the landing light STC from Dan at Lasar, it was 7/23/2018: Joe, at this time all we can offer is the STC’d kit relocating the oil cooler. Kit is in stock. Please call to order 800-954-5619 LASAR Parts I like the ‘at this time’ possibility, maybe things have changed since so I would give them a call and inquire.
  24. Lasar STC SA2513NM allowed the installation of a 2nd light with relocation of the oil cooler. I inquired about it a little over a year ago and was told they are no longer offering this. Bob’s E has this and I liked his idea of a spot and a flood led
