  1. This would be great, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. This idea makes too much good sense for a federal agency to adopt it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. You're not going to find it. Talk to Alan Fox on here, he can help you out with a suitable work around. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Ok, my HSI appears to have developed a case of the course select knob no longer functioning. Who would you recommend I send it to for repair? I’d love to do the dual G5 route, but my daughter is stating college in the fall and funds are already committed there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. I guess I spend my days being lied to by sellers about the condition of their properties so that doesn’t bother me. It truly is amazing what people don’t know about the things they own. As far as the damage history, if the plane has been flying that long after the repairs, they were probably done right. I think the thing you need to keep in mind is that if you buy this plane, these issues will come up when you go to sell it. Just my 2 cents. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. We know what killed him, he flew into a mountain. That point is not up for discussion. What should be talked about is the decision making that went into this accident and where we can all learn. Waiting until the NTSB report would be nice, but those take months and the timeliness of the incident is lost and if there is a mechanical issue, then it will resurface. The FAA has spent a lot of time lately hammering on aviation decision making and trying to break the chain of these accidents. It seems like this individual did not have much "fear" or was an adrenaline junkie (not said in a bad way). Not being a CFI, is there guidance from the FAA on how to teach and reinforce the ADM with students like this?
  9. Because it’s their plane... They banged Susie McEasy on the wing... They “think” they’ll fly again... They died and their family has no idea what to do with it... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. My issue has nothing to do with starting procedure. After doing more trouble shooting today it looks like the sos is beyond its service life and a new one has been ordered. We’ll see if that’s it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Stay tuned, but it looks like the left mag might have a messed up terminal p lead terminal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. My M20E has been going through a pretty long annual this year and all of a sudden has become very hard to start to won’t start. I have an IO-360-A1A with the shower of sparks system. Mags, wiring harness, and plugs were all over hauled/replaced about 3 years ago and about 200 hours. The shower of sparks sounds like it did a when the engine would start easily with 3-5 blades. Here’s the kicker, when the engine starts, it runs smooth and develops 2700 rpm, and sounds great. Timing is at 25 BTDC.... The engine started fine going into the annual, we’ve replaced the fuel line from the throttle body to the gauge cluster, gas looks and smells right, no wires are missing that we can see... Any ideas or things to look for? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I think it's about a 6" arm. I'll measure it when I head out to the airport tonight. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. I’ve see these all the time in real estate. One of the things people are taught is to “dumb down” the letter so it doesn’t feel like it’s coming from a big corporation or someone the does this all the time. I’m not sure the research is that good if they think they’ll get a J for that price and meet those criteria. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I have not had any issues with the compass and have flown like this about 60 hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I use a Ram mount off the center support post. The only think it blocks on mine is the ancient Brittain autopilot and one fuel gauge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I wonder if Mooney has pulled a wing with this type of corrosion and put it on a gig to see what the breaking point has been reduced to.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. The break was along the weld, all the way around. The time was really what I was worried about. There seemed to be no urgency to communicate with me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Last July during the annual it was determined that my muffler was beyond repair and I needed to buy a new one. We purchased a new one through Parts Exchange (aircraftexhaust.com) to the tune of about 1AMU, put it on the plane, and off we went. Fast forward one year and 70 hours and the muffler is cracked. So I reached out to Parts Exchange and told them what we had found and if they would honor the one year warranty. Well, because it was 15 days past the year mark they said they’d ask the manufacturer, Aerospace Welding, what they wanted to do after I took and sent lots of pictures to them. 6 days later they came back to me and they asked me to ship the muffler and all of the exhaust stacks to AW so they could examine it and then let me know what they would do. I told them I’d pass on that and just went and had the muffler repaired locally. I was not going to waste the time and money shipping it all to them and then be told they’d give me a small credit towards a new one. Just a cautionary tale... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Has anyone ever dealt with Parts Exchange/AWI on a warranty issue with a muffler? Thanks! Wade Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
