  1. Ok, I’m actually doing something very similar to you. I’m in Austin and do real estate deals in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. I’ve got a 1970 M20E. The biggest issue is what do you need to do when you get to your destination? Most FBO’s only allow crew cars to be borrowed for an hour or so. If you’re making a days worth of sales calls you’ll need to rent a car. So for me, it’s an almost wash time wise to just jump in my car and drive versus going to the airport, getting the plane ready, flying, doing the fbo shuffle and then getting the rental car. Also, if you have times where you absolutely have to be there are you going to get bit by “get rhereitis?. Really depends on what your flexibility is. Don’t get me wrong, there have been days where I’ve had inspections on Dallas and Houston where I just needed to show up and flying was the perfect answer. It really depends on what your schedule is when you get there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. I like it, but I’m looking in the $15k-$30k range Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. That would be nice, but outta the budget. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I’m looking to buy an LSA for the wife to train in for her Sport Pilot Certificate. Now, just to nip it in the bud, she has to go Sport Pilot, PPL is not an option. I’ve been looking at Luscombes, Taylorcrafts and Ercoupes with rudders. She wants side by side seating. Of these three, any pros or cons to look for? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. What are some autopilot options that are available today to install in a 1970 M20E? I currently have the old Brittain and, well, it acts like a drunken sailor. I've got a GTN650 and was considering a Garmin G3X as an upgrade to the panel since it includes the engine monitor. I know the more prudent financial course is to sell this one and find a plane with the avionics I want (dream plane is a 2006-2008 Oviation with waas, a/c, gfc autopilot, and he 310 hp upgrade), but I want to see what options there are. 8. Is there another solution for a WAAS source for the G1000's other than installing the GIA63W?
  9. True!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Ha! I never claimed to be an English major. I’ve never owned a turbo and all the guys I know that have turbos seem to have issues. I’m taking baby steps up the food chain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. The one I’m looking at has the 310hp conversion, G1000 upgraded to WAAS, VNAV, GFC700, and SVT and, the favorite of my significant other, air conditioning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I really had not been looking for a replacement plane, but over the past two years it seems like all I’ve been doing is replacing items mainly because they are failing due to age. I’ve been frustrated because there are some upgrades I’ve been wanting to do and all these other repairs have cut into that budget. My significant other made the suggestion of looking at how much money we’d spend on the upgrades vs using that for a down payment for a newer airframe that already had what I wanted avionics wise. So I started looking and found an Oviation that has every thing I could ask for, plus air conditioning, and to my surprise the numbers work and are reasonable. I’m based in Austin, TX so getting up and over mountains is not a big concern for me, plus I didn’t want to maintain a turbo. Typical mission will be 300-500 miles with a few longer trips to California or the northeast tossed in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I’ve been looking to upgrade and I think I’ve found the Oviation that I like. Going through the logs it seems like the current owner has been replacing tires and brake pads on a very regular basis. Is this an airframe or operator issue? Also, what are most Oviations seeing for real world fuel flows? Thanks! Wade Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. How old was it to begin with? If over a couple of years, I’d go on a mend replace it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I’ll be there! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. What’s a ballpark price for having this done? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. That’s what I thought or maybe a connector came loose and is touching both posts, but I’m not sure where to look for that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. So, I’ve been trouble shooting this for a bit but it’s always seemed intermittent. This week I was finally able to recreate it on the ground. My question is where is the “control box” mounted on an M20E? I’m thinking something is loose there. Both lights come on when the low vac light should and vice versa. Any thoughts? 19. Yeah, it was pricey, but it's all of the exterior placards. When I ordered it I was needing to update a bunch of them so it worked for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/exteriorplacards.php?clickkey=32130 It is a big sheet with all of the exterior placards. Wade
  21. I ordered a set of placards from aircraft spruce that had a sticker for the tow limits. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. All I have to say is that it will be operated at “Full Rental Power” more than you’d like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. We are probably looking at needing 3-4 inches. I'm going to look at it when I've got it torn apart for the annual and see what we can do. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. So I'm not reinventing the wheel, or pedal, what have people done to extend the rudder pedals on the passenger side that doesn't have brakes? I have a vertically challenged significant other that flies with me and she'd like to learn to land the plane, but right now she can't reach the rudder pedals and move the yoke at the same time. Thanks! Wade
  25. Look at the head of the camlock, it should have a number on it, this corresponds to length Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
