I see the pre heater sitting there by the nose wheel, can't for the life of me figure out where it will fit under the cowling

Not saying you won't get warnings but don't you think you should know what your attitude of flight should be without it. Do you think Langewiesche needed such a device. People become over dependent on all kinds of technology and then when it fails there is an inherent lack of skill to keep things from going sideways. Quite a number of instructional videos on the magenta pilot phenomenon as an example of basic navigational skills becoming less proficient as more and more technology takes over. Yes you can have lots of back up. But for heavens sake the best part of flying is flight, being in touch with the sensation of it. It's what I love about riding motorcycles it's so pure. I guess I'm just a romantic.

Were having quite the winter storm out west wind blowing hard enough to shake the house. The western storm door has opened which is great news for California.

So what your saying is you used the feel and performance of your airplane to calibrate your AOAi which is something that everybody piloting an airplane should be doing at all times weather they have the indicator or not. I'm sure the AOA is a great tool but in my opinion knowing or better yet feeling what your airplane is telling you should be better understood than an instrument that could become inaccurate or fail perhaps leading you to believe life is good when in fact it may not be. As usual I accept that this opinion will not be popular, story of my life. It's aaalllll good.

The Mooney tail makes it easier to find your airplane in a crowded parking ramp. Al probably finished Christmas shopping one day and couldn't remember where he parked so wanted his airplane to stand out in a crowd. Merry Christmas every body.

Are you trying to get the hull covered and for how much value. If so you might try just getting liability coverage until you get your PPL and have your instructor listed on the policy since you won't be PIC initially while you are training. -
Wide range of performance for our C depending on how I fly I have seen 154 knots TAS down low pushing WOT 2500rpm at 4500 feet. A three heading gps flight at 8000 feet with two on board gave 149 knots and at 10500 feet with two and heavy fuel produced 140 knots true. Our C is nothing special has a few mods but no dorsal fin or even re positioned calipers so I have no doubt that a really clean fresh motor modded C could be a high 150 to low 160 knot airplane. But again it has a lot to do with how hard you want to push it. Cool winter weather makes a big difference as well, ours hates hot weather. Knot bad for 180hp with 1015 pounds of useful load. Short bodies are great little airplanes.

Definitely one of the coolest threads around here lately

Welcome to Mooney Space hell of an entrance and first post. Tell us more about yourself

Corporations spend millions on consulting firms to evaluate their business models and production methods. Mooney just found a way to save all that money

Article said 9 fatalities 3 injured but not much more information other than very poor weather. Don't know if this was a departure or if the incident aircraft was in cruise to destination Idaho. A PC12 is a well equipped IMC airplane lots of bad weather around the country right now and of course even turbo props can fail but likely weather related . You IFR guys be cautious as for us VFR well easy no go decision. prayers for the many affected by this tragedy

Sadly I have only a couple of flights in an a36. It was purchased new by my mom and dads best friends when I was still very young and don't have much memory of it. But looking at articles on the A36 I have to concede they are in a different league

Hope things went well for your Mrs. And are able to have a happy thanksgiving
-
My feelings got nothing to do with it. And aren't hurt in the least. But it sure seems like you don't care much for brand M. And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a 252 still a mid body. I know it's not a J but shows the potential for the design. Anyway have yourself a very happy thanksgiving I think all of us that get to enjoy the privilege of aviation have much to be thankful for.

I recognize that shoreline

So what your implying is that Mooney's are shit and are below the coveted Bo's and Comanche and more akin to a VW Jetta. Seems to me the J can keep close to a Bo on much less fuel and loads are reasonable and if I'm not mistaken a 252 will fly faster and farther with the same air frame. Just seems like you two don't really like Mooney's very much other than something to salvage or repair and sell.

Fatal Cirrus accident last night in Vegas

Our little Garmin 296 gives terrain avoiding warning this is very sad and really should never have happened just too many ways to know where you are. -
Perhaps we should re name this thread Mooney bashing, thank you Mr. Mooney for making the m20c otherwise people that make a normal income that aren't AP or IA's would be unable to fly anything that goes much faster than a hundred ten knots.

Thank you Kevin for your participation and generosity and to you Mike for the difficult and very valuable work you do. -
It's been over a month since we last flew. There have been fires power outages family commitments and an airport closed for runway resurfacing. We needed to make a supply flight but there were forecast and resulting turbulence all over the area and I don't like to fly in anything that makes for an uncomfortable ride for my wife. But a flight needed to be made so I opted to fly solo and do some aero maneuvers and a few full stop landings locally . Snoopy started right up, Concord battery performance was perfect even though no charge had been done during the long break. The flights were all good with each landing being better than the one before. Some strong wind was blowing right down the runway making for a bit of a challenge on crosswind and base turns and legs. Lampson has a nice little hill right off the end of rwy 28 and while in the crosswind the strong winds coming over the hill wanted to swing the tail right around plus I was getting a climb rate of over twelve hundred feet per minute so really required some stick and rudder to keep things coordinated . The conditions shook all the rust off (the pilot) in short order. Was good to get Snoopy out of the hangar into the air where it belongs.

Is that really yours? If so there are no words to do it justice other than let me know if you need someone to help with your transition training I am available.

As we move through life we must suffer the pain that it brings. Your loss makes me think of my closest and life long friend and how much it would hurt were he to pass can't even imagine how hard that must be for you. Nothing more important than those closest to us. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your dear friends family. God bless

You should be Okay Browning is still producing the M2, finest MG ever made

Lampson field closed for three weeks, power off for three days now at home with at least two more likely to go. And another major F ing wildfire burning just west of us. At least we haven't had to evacuate. I'm going out of my mind.
