  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfLVxx_lBLU very interesting ARGH...I wish I could figure out how to attach a link on this stupid iPad
  2. So, I guess,we will just sit tight what choice do we have remember we voluntarily gave away our rights cause doctors orders. Watch as the fed keeps printing unheard of amounts of money piling debt on top of debt which will lead to unprecedented inflation that will carry over for generations. I'm more than happy to keep my mouth shut when I don't know what I'm talking about so long as the discussion is of no consequence to my life and our collective freedom. The long term effects of this shut down could be far more dangerous to people's health in terms of emotional depression people taking their own lives the devastating effect on our healthcare system and I don't mean from overwhelming them with the pandemic but because people stop going for fear of the virus or like in your case not wanting to be a bother and when all those millions of people who lost thier jobs no longer have health care insurance or the company's that used to provide that insurance are no longer there what will be the long term effects on the health of our people be then. If the fatally rate ends up being a fraction of one percent instead of the two to five percent that we were originally told because the models were formed without any real idea of the number of people that actually had the virus not to mention the questionable methods for counting the number of people who tragically have passed with the virus but not necessarily because of it. Well there is a lot at stake a lot more than the virus itself. And yes the second opinion was tongue and cheek Billy Bob Sanitation department
  3. I too look forward to better times my fear which is shared by millions of people is that we have allowed fear to dictate an outcome that we may never be able to recover from. Please explain to me why there is such a huge difference between California and Ny / NJ. I'm so sorry I don't have your education and all I can do is form an opinion based on what all the experts are telling us that we have to do. What gets my goat is how condescending they sound when they speak about how inconvenient this is how they just really don't care one bit about this situation beyond the medical side of it. Every time it's oh just a few more weeks oh maybe the end of the month oh maybe the end of June. You are all doing so well following our direction just hang in there we are so proud of you. Please tell me that we can develop an effective vaccine and if we do perhaps we will cure the common cold and aids while we're at it. Never in my life have I seen my constitutional rights taken away so easily. And what really scares me is how much I get a sense that the politicians would really like to keep it this way. Actions speak louder than words. As a medical professional do you get offended when your patient might want to get a second opinion.
  4. ILC please stay out front I have always appreciated your comments on many fronts and obviously your knowledge here would be most valuable. When I started this I was suffering from a severe toothache and my dentist was closed because of the virus. This lasted for several days due to an infection this can sure make one into an angry bear. Whatever your doing out there we appreciate it and hope for your strength and endurance.
  5. Practice practice practice besides it's fun. I like to land with flaps set differently on purpose sometimes none sometimes half sometimes full paying close attention to how Snoopy responds. Our field is 3500 feet and never have a problem making the mid field exit You can do this
  6. Yes that's a shame. Folks have been very civil with expressing their views on what is a very sensitive and challenging subject. Is it related to aviation or Mooneys no but in a sense it is in that if we don't get our shit together real f....ing soon there won't be any hope of life as we know it ie, an economy that will support our wonderful hobby of flying our Mooney's. Airport restaurants will fail for good FBO's will close Avgas will be unavailable because the cost to produce vs demand will make it non profitable, on and on. I really hope that all the smartest people in the room that have successfully shut the world down out of fear are proven wrong. And when that happens they are at least educated enough to admit it. Nothing in the history of our country has so quickly and effectively done more damage to our freedoms than this even 911 didn't force mom and pop business to close their doors yes it did make life different in many ways but nothing like what we're experiencing now. And now as people's patients are running out all we are seeing is more demanding self restrictions being recommended by our state and local governments. Local news Lake county CA total cases 6 with 5 fully recovered and the one remaining doing Ok. Maybe if were lucky they will let us have a few months of freedom before we have to shut it all down again in the fall. And yes this issue is ripe with political differences but this thread has been mostly just a great discussion respectfully made.
  7. Spelling corrected
  8. For many years we loved to listen to and watch Carl Sagans account of the vastness of the universe with billions and billions of galaxies. This was a number most people could not get their heads around. Well now with the Covid stimulus and relief bills we finally have a workable comparison
  9. I know this will have some opponents but you might consider just getting liability coverage for your first 100 hours. That's what I did and coverage was only 900 per year. Once I hit 100 hours I added comprehensive and the costs only went to about 1200 hundred for 35000 hull which I have increased as I have accumulated hours in type. It doesn't cost anything to inquire best of luck
  10. Another spring is now in full bloom and I am not having any allergic reactions. I don't know if a five year duration to receive this treatment is a plan I could stick with. Of course all I can say is how well it worked for me but to add to the success. The owner of the company that I was working for who had a front row seat to my daily suffering and saw the drastic improvement had a condition with serious pain in his neck and shoulders he asked me to inquire with my acupuncture guy if it could help. He said sure one visit. He went for the one visit and had 100% relief. I ran into him many years later and asked if the pain ever came back he said it never did. I'm sure the costs have gone up but when I went it was only 25 dollars a visit. Back then it was not covered by insurance but I think that may have changed as it is more accepted as a legitimate treatment. Whenever I hear of someone suffering from allergies I alway tell them my story. hope whatever you do continues to give you relief
  11. That was a great story it took me almost 40 years to find my dream of flight. Back in high school a close friend and I would talk about how great it would be to build an airplane well we had a Pitts or a BD5 in mind but of course we were just a couple poor well middle class kids so the closest we could get was to build a hang glider using bamboo plastic tarp and duct tape following a plan in popular science or mechanics I can't remember which. His family owned a very large parcel here in lake county with a nice hill that dropped into a flat field. Test flights ended up with lots of cuts and scrapes but the thing did glide somewhat just enough to scare the crap out of anyone with even a little common sense. He went on to get his private in our senior year and we would cut class before lunch drive down to Hayward airport and rent a 152 and fly over the school during lunchtime. Fast forward to year 50 at my girlfriend now wife's encouragement I ended up buying a 150 and getting my private right here in Lake County.
  12. Thank you for the service to our country and actually this thread has been very politics free and for that I compliment the gallery
  13. Good to know about American propeller anyone know what they charge for an airport visit
  14. Yes in fact I do remember that but if I'm not mistaken he is not permitted to perform ECI tests anywhere on the airport property so would still require an RR to get the prop hub to his shop.
  15. R and R your prop and having it shipped is going to bring the costs over the 350 that Stockton propeller charges even if they pick up and deliver for free. Since this test is done with a hand held device wouldn't it make more sense to just bring the test to the propeller twice a week instead
  16. Last time we used this company they met us at Lincoln airport and the test was way more thorough than when I had it done in Stocton through Top Gun. I really liked Golden State Propeller but he was forced to close by the city/airport. I'm not sure how much CTC changed but I think it was a hundred fifty. Technician is not an AP so you will have to RR your spinner and also your weights. When I got home I had my IA sign off in my prop log. I don't know how many old hubs are still in service but would be great to be an AP with certificate to do this inspection and fly around the country in your Mooney performing this service Paul Farinha AWS QC1-14090491 level II technician CTC Services, Inc. 17. No worries Skip, and yes informed fact based comments are the most helpful but it's the opinions that make it fun. Now if only someone was needing to know the proper way to stretch a sheet of watercolor rag paper before painting or the difference between wet and dry brush technique but I know this isn't an art forum. Or if you needed guidance on how to design and engineer and electric distribution system for a subdivision or commercial development then I would be right at home.
  18. Wow a subject that I might be able to provide some personal experience to. As a child and into my early 20's I suffered from the worst allergies starting in early spring into the late summer symptoms so severe you would not believe. We tried prescription Medications, OTC antihistamines and immunization shots nothing worked. I hated the side affects often more than the reactions to the pollen. When I was at work a customer saw how badly I was suffering and recommended acupuncture. I was so desperate I would give it a try even being the skeptic that I am. I found a guy in the yellow pages this before the interweb I mean how do you know what to look for right. Went for four sessions once a week the first time I was not feeling bad so no noticeable difference but the second week was a really bad day, he placed several needles around my face and shoulders and within seconds my sinus was completely clear I mean it was weird. Two more treatments and I was done. I had to return a few years later because of a real bad season and had a few visits. Let me say that was in the early 80's and I have never had a problem since even when folks who were experiencing hey fever that normally would never have a problem. the way it was explained to me is that we are all allergic to pollens but people that don't suffer have better immunity naturally and what acupuncture does is stimulate the glands organs or other bits to get off their lazy butts and get to work. Makes sense, I'm glad you found relief but it's likely you will suffer this again come next season you might look into acupuncture as a possible alternative absolutely no side affects and has lasted my whole life truly amazing. Folks that don't suffer with allergies have no idea how miserable and debilitating it can be.
  19. On a much lighter note my wife and I took our pup Magneto for a flight to pick up some essential supplies from Petsmart down at the Nut Tree. Snoopy flew nicely as always such a joy to fly. AV gas was 3.70 a gallon there at VCB so I filled it to the brim which was only 18 gallons oh well. We bought Magneto some mutt muffs a while back and finally got to try them out he didn't like them much. The parking lot at the Nut tree usually completely full was almost empty only a couple stores open, very sad. High pressure made for a bit of haze in the sky and the winds blowing over the hills made for some pretty bumpy air but was very uplifting both figuratively and literally to be out flying. I hope ALL of you are well I hope and pray that these difficult times defy the experts and we get through this sooner rather than later. God Bless
  20. I enjoy reading informed opinions as much as the next and there are a number of studies that don't agree with the models we have based all the doom and gloom on and they are being provided by people that are equally informed with outstanding credentials as well. Obviously I'm not a scientist nor am I a doctor of any kind. But I am an American citizen and know when my constitutional rights are under attack I don't like what's going on not one stinking bit. We are making a huge reaction to projected outcomes when we still don't have a denominator as to how many people have had this virus suffered minor symptoms if any and moved on. More studies are being done and more conclusions are confirming this to be the case. I also am VERY suspicious of the number of deaths that were strictly due to the virus and not underlying conditions. I don't post much on MS anymore because of attitudes like yours. I guess all the millions of normal hard working people that are in the process of losing everything should just keep their uneducated mouths shut do as their told be thankful for the appreciation of their elected leaders for being good little soldiers nothing personal I just get really miffed when I read an insult especially when it's between the lines.
  21. We hopped in our Mooney with our pup and made an essential flight today to pick up some doggie supplies at pet smart. Had to cross the street twice and didn't die. Thank God. Even though the air was a bit rough it was great to be out social distancing at 160mph.
  22. All this talk about re opening being dependent on testing seems somewhat misleading. IMHO the only test that really matters is the antibody test. Unless they plan on doing a daily test for people what good is that. Your given the green light to go to work after your test comes up negative what's to say you won't become infected that day and unless you get another test before your next day out you could be spreading the virus. We might as well just start wearing full hazmat gear if we wait for a proven vaccine the world economy is going to be beyond repair and please don't accuse me of thinking money is more important than health but the long term risk of poverty will be far worse than this stupid Chinese virus.some of you worry about our healthcare facilities being over loaded a real concern for the short term. But if we don't get people back to work and keep businesses open there isn't going to be any revenue to keep those hospitals and practices open they will be forced to close their doors permanently. State and local governments are now feeling great economic pressure because the revenue faucet has been turned off because there is very little commerce no business means no taxes. Food supplies will begin to fail they already have. None of the political leaders are going to risk their careers by being accused of putting the economy above the possible risks associated with re opening. They are talkIng about not re opening schools even in the fall. Our economy is the life blood of this country and if it dies there won't be any way to do anything for those that get sick.
  23. Thanks I was just trying to find a link not very good with an iPad
  24. But that's the problem, we don't know how many people have actually had the virus and were without or had minor symptoms and never sought treatment. A very recent study done in Santa Clara county has determined that the antibody was present in between 50 to 80 times more than previously thought. I can't recall the name but I believe it was Stanford that did the research. I still believe that CA was probably dealing with this infection much sooner as it is a major point of entry for people traveling from China. And please educate me regarding vaccines have we ever developed a cure for a viral infection treatment yes but a cure last time I checked there is still no cure for the common cold, right or am I mistaken. By isolating the population all we have done is prolong the inevitable. At least it did allow the needed gearing up of medical preparedness. CA only began state wide isolation two days before NY not much of a head start. I have no lettered credentials and truly respect your much more informative position. But sadly most folks are more like me than you and all we are hearing from the medical professionals is the only thing we can do is stay away from each other let our businesses crash and burn and hang in there until we have a vaccine by best estimates 12 to 18 months from now. Not very reassuring if you ask me.
