When flying into class delta patterns and being advised of traffic on final I am always curious as I look to visually acquire the traffic looking on what would be a three or four degree approach and end up finding them so low just barely above the trees even when a half a mile or more out. There is no way they would make the runway if they lost power. This is very common I'm thinking dam that guy is low.

Another two weeks have passed since my last rant and as time goes on I see more evidence that my fears are justified. Moving the goal posts has become a new normal. Here in Lake County we have maintained a total of eight cases all fully recovered out of 64 thousand residents. People have been going to all the essential businesses and been in close contact with none of the employees becoming infected and no community spread. Rural areas have not seen an uptick of cases states that have begun re opening have not seen an uptick. But we have seen an attack on our freedom and now with contact tracing going into effect our forth amendment will also be under attack. I want to once again compliment the people that have expressed their thoughts on this thread for keeping political views in check but it is very clear that this virus has been turned into a political weapon. We were told the need to flatten the curve to prevent over demand of medical facilities which we have done many hospitals are now in jeopardy of closing because their beds are empty and revenue is way down. LA says they won't re open until the end of summer. Dr Fauci is saying we should not hold school even in the fall. Cal State University saying there may be no classes even in the Fall. UC is recommending that all pre registration testing like SAT's no longer be required because of COVID what the hell does that have to do with a virus. On and on it goes. Oh by the way do any of you have a trillion dollars I can borrow.

Nice thoughts Anthony but I have a huge problem with number two once upon a time this was a free country not long ago. I don't think we can last much longer. And let's say science comes up with a solution in the next year or so are you suggesting we will have mandated testing, mandatory vaccinations not the kind of world I'm looking forward to At least Flight instruction is permitted as an essential service but as I said before it's a difficult choice in difficult times. Difficult choices during difficult times. Saw a study showing how short the half life of this damn virus is when exposed to heat humidity and UV light. Now when the summer heat returns which is soon to come I can't think of a safer environment than the cockpit of a Mooney that has been sitting in the sun for a half hour or so. We have been conditioned to accept that we have to give up our per suit of happiness and I know these are not easy choices but at some point we are going have to take this thing head on and stop hiding and hoping for some scientific miracle that may never come.

And it just reminds me as VE Day passes it's 75th anniversary and VJ Day approaches the thousands of young pilots just barely out of flight training were tasked to fly in combat such wooley beasts as this.

Fear not as the view to the east had ground in site but to be honest all the airports that would provide a safe out in the event of an emergency were under the layer so some increased risk was being taken.

Made a flight to LVK yesterday to visit Mom for Mother's Day was almost eerie how little traffic was apparent. Monitoring different frequencies and not a peep. LVK tower is only open from 9 to 5 when we were about 15 miles out I made our first call after listening to the ATIS and first response was your cleared to land 25 right. As we were rolling out tower asked where do you want to park. Marine layer was way inland and we flew VFR on top.

Why would an F be one of the best load lifters and a J have such a low number like 760. For us our C carries 1010 we almost never carry a third pax other than our pup. As a two plus the short bodies are such sweet airplanes. Now a turbocharged short would be so fun to really ring out.

We're all tired, frustrated and sick of how this is playing out and there really isn't any end in site.i doubt we will ever see our country be free from some doctors recommended behavior. So let's try to keep the discussion civil. Just saw on our local news some unknown guy speaking for the governor about the slow re opening and he said if we abuse these privileges they will be removed again. Privileges are you frickin kidding me. My constitutional rights are considered a privilege. Nothing and I mean nothing gives these people the athority to take away our constitutional rights. I don't care how bad this virus is it doesn't give the governor the legal athority to take away our freedom. As people here in California are running out of patience our government is squeezing its grip even tighter. Trust me they don't want to ever give our rights back.

I think one of the biggest problems is a general sense of being hand tied and helpless and after all we are pilots and are accustomed to being able to control the outcome of even the worst situations. Never in our history have our leaders regardless of their political ideology had more power over the people they are supposed to be working for. I think they have long ago lost site of this and the power they now have over us has really amplified this to a very dangerous level.
