  1. I don't have any personal experience but the logbooks for my M20J are full of entries by Maurice Lemmond at KFLO in Florence, SC. I don't have any contact information but you could probably call the FBO there.
  2. Mooney should really consider making a fixed gear model so that low time pilots could transition to the airframe and Master their Mooney flying skills. Then they could offer a kit to convert it from fixed gear to retractable...
  3. I'm not sure I would like having a USB cord sticking out of my main nav unit while flying. It seems like it might get in the way.
  4. You were apparently upset about having a post deleted and you were ranting about freedom of speech. It wasn't clear that you had a point.
  5. Freedom of speech doesn't really mean that you can say anything you want anywhere you want. It just means that the government can't stop you from saying it. Privately owned venues can enforce whatever standards they choose. Anyone who doesn't like those standards is free to start their own venue with their own standards. I, for one, prefer a certain level of civility.
  6. I'm not sure I see how trusting an IA is relinquishing your responsibility. The OP trusted the opinion of a properly credentialed professional that these items were not airworthiness issues.
  7. I can't help you with Orlando but I can tell you that I'm 6'5" and I flew a short body mooney (1963 M20D) for 8 years. I was pretty much at the limit of the available legroom and the rear passenger had almost nothing. In my current M20J I have legroom to spare and I don't even put the seat all the way back.
  8. You mean something like this? http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/corrosionx.php?clickkey=8978
  9. Are you going to run it off the same CB as the panel power socket? What is needed for this mod; 337 or just a sign-off?
  10. Does anyone have any experience installing either a dedicated USB or standard cigarette lighter style outlet for the rear seats? My passengers often want to power their devices too.
  11. The title of this topic is: '77 M20J For Sale (KIKV) So, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it's at KIKV.
  12. That works great if your M20J is 1982 or later. Earlier J's have a non-folding bench seat. The OP said he has a '77.
  13. I don't think they closed any of them. They posted that list last year during the early stages of the sequester and then suspended the closures when they were given more leeway with their budget phasing.
  14. Data plates are covered in 45.11 and 45.13 in the FARs. http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?rgn=div5;node=14:1.0.1.3.22#14:1.0.1.3.22.2.363.2
  15. Tau (or 2Pi) seems unlikely to gain much traction.
  16. It isn't heating the wing. It uses differential magnetic fields to apply pressure to the back of dent. http://www.aviationpros.com/article/10387162/electronic-dent-removal-a-look-at-this-unique-process
  17. You don't need an account to donate. On the PayPal page you should see a link that says, "Don't have a PayPal account? Use a debit, credit, or gift card."
  18. I don't think there are any lost com procedures inside the Washington DC ADIZ. Two-way communication with ATC is required at all times. I took the online course required to operate in the ADIZ and all I learned was that I didn't want to fly anywhere near there.
  19. I've only had an M20J for 3 months and the gear latch already got me once. Fortunately I had already read something about it here on Mooneyspace.
  20. This plane has been on the market since at least early last fall. It may still be available in 3 months. Such is the market these days, I suppose.
  21. That's a spec for the material not the part. Doesn't the part still require a PMA?
  22. I know people use all sorts of seals from places like Home Depot but the commercially available replacements like Aircraft Door Seals have a PMA. What are the actual regulations around something like a door seal?
  23. I think Camguard only works if you run LOP and takeoff without flaps.
  24. What about Terrafugia seats? Are those car seats or airplane seats?
  25. According to FAR 91.107 your passengers need "an approved seat or berth with a safety belt." Unless they are skydivers...
