  1. Mine used to do that. battery lasted the standard amount of time.
  2. Happens. Generally no damage. You have a CO detector right?
  3. Generally safe till damaged. The Tesla we had light off. The battery pack got pierced with a metal pipe.
  4. The Stratux is a Raspberry PI based ADSB in Solution. No batteries in it. So the battery pack got damaged in the fall, and then lit off. My Stratux is plugged into a USB port hardwired into the plane. I have ADSB in and out on the Dynon, so the phone only sometimes gets connected to the Stratux. at this point mostly a back up.
  5. If people think he should be running. Do this. Put on an extra 60lbs of clothing and air tank and start jogging. For the "fun" stuff we do. They sit you in a steel box with 1500 degrees above your head. Your gear will start melting at about 500 degrees. The floor is about 3-400 degrees. I thought about taking a camera into the box, but did not want to melt one. From training this weekend.
  6. As a firefighter..... If there is not life involved, no rush is warranted. I could say something about their hose lay as they looked like they were pulling rolled up hose. Also moving from an up wind position to a downwind position. They were doing car tactics where you approach from the front quarter. But notice when the magnesium wheels are hit how they spark. If that gets on you it will go through your gear. Also the fuel was on fire from the wing sump. He hits it a couple of times and it relights. meaning there was something there hot enough to relight. We are taught and it takes awhile to get through to the younger go getters to evaluate what you are saving vs. cost. So if they had got water on it 1-3 minutes earlier how would the outcome be different?
  7. Bet a dollar it's a Lycoming part. Look in the Lycoming manual. Try Air Power. If it is one of those fittings with an o ring on it, They are used in the auto parts. NAPA may also have it..
  8. Might want to give a hint on where it goes on the plane. Looks like the oil lines on the back of the engine.
  9. Should be a standard AN fitting. Can use brass or alum. Aeroquip. Depending it might be in the aviation plumbing section of Home Depot.
  10. The issue with tall people in Cessna's is not the headroom, but the windows are too low. I always had to duck and look while turning left base to final. When I sit in the Mooney it's like the blinders come off. There is a mod to drill holes in the seat rail if you want to move the seat back and inch. I can fly from stock holes, but the further back is a bit nicer. I think twice I have hit my head and had to readjust the headset. Just strap in a bit harder and then tip the head to one side when the turb hits. when seats are redone some pilots put more foam in the seat. So some mooneys sit different.
  11. an interesting perspective. I was in the Hmmm am I really good enough for this exacting hobby? For my flight review I flew with a really good pilot. F16/Reno Air Race Pilot/etc etc. It was a bumpy day as in I hit the cabin top and knocked my headphones off.. He said he was going to work me over. Pretty much did everything on the pilot test. It really upped my confidence and let me know that I am still safe. On the ground I asked if he ever felt the need to go to the pedals. He said "no" I would say go fly with a better pilot.
  12. Or and this is more common than one might think. There was a wire laying on a screw that would move a bit when the gear went up or down. When the panel was taken off the wire was fine because that screw was out. Of the 30 times the gear was operated, how many time was it with the panel back on? See we will never know the true meaning.
  13. I would use a piece of closet rod and a vice to make the bend. Clamp one end with the closet rod. Then use a rubber mallet to help you bend it. If the closet rod is the wrong size then wood dowel. Go to NAPA and get some of the little springy things, drill a hole and insert. Then go to fabric store and buy some foam filling, some leather of your color and some contact cement (not the water based, the good smelly stuff) Cut and glue. Pilots can do interior stuff under Preventive Maintenance. Make it look better than factory and nobody will care. If you want to redo all the lower panels in leather. leatherhidestore.com Buy a couple of hides. There is different weights of leather hides.
  14. Rounding error. Go fly the plane.
  15. There is an SB M20-205B each 500hrw on the bell cranks for the airlons that my IA found. So do those panels Number 12 on the diagram provided.

I am not saying that MMO will help you make a stuck valve get to annual, but if you think about it the engine design and MMO are of the same vintage. One mechanic said to pull the exhaust to get the valve back in, but using a grabber with 2 prongs cut off and holding the valve with the cylinder, was able to get it back in the hole just using the spark plug holes. https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-Automotive-Retrieval-Tool-Kit/1003096242
  17. My Flight Review guy did the test pilot stuff for it since it really does not have a category. I need to ask him more about it.
  18. measure voltage with plane running with digital VOM. Check Grounds to the instrument cluster. Report back.
  19. The AeroLEDs were quick to install and replaced the strobe/position on my 75 F. Direct screw match.
  20. Call all the MSCs. SWTA would be one to start with and then the others in your area.
  21. thanks I see they are closing the runway starting tomorrow. !ERV 03/013 ERV RWY 12/30 CLSD TO TRANSIENT EXC 72HR PPR 830-896-9399 2404051700-2404081930 I think T82 is going to be a nut house more than usual
  22. Hey Kerrville peeps. Anyone know how this works. I checked with the FBO they said they are booked and not taking reservations. Are there some public parking areas on the field? Can we just hang out on the ramp for Sunday Evening? @Mcstealth @bcg
  23. The first AD Log with my IA, he made me do it and then we went over the questions. One of the reasons for getting a bit newer Mooney is a fair amount of ADs don't apply. Went for the RTS flight yesterday. It is true that bad instrumentation makes a engine run more poorly. Good instrumentation and you forget about the engine running so it runs good. There was a cessna that had been parked for several days and fired it up and took off. No mag check or letting the oil warm. But then I could not figure out why I was climbing so slow and figured out that I left the gear down.
