  1. Hello, I have spent the last 48 hour's skimming though 455 pages of the J model service manual to no avail. On 2 of the last 10 flights my "Gear CONT" 5A CB popped. I would assume this is for "Gear Control" AKA the actual panel mounted wheel style gear switch and override button. Only thing that has been different on these flights was letting a pilot rated passenger swing the gear both times this occurred. One was on retraction, the other time on extension. Can this be caused by not operating the switch quick enough? Where I usually pull it OUT and DOWN or OUT and UP perhaps my passenger did not do that quickly enough and the extra time in cycle caused a spike in voltage enough to pop the Gear CONT CB. Only other thing I can think was before this last occurrence, I also was showing this pilot rated passenger after startup where the manual extension was and how it is operated. (Mine is pull start version behind trim wheel with safety latch) I obviously didn't operate it on the ground, but I did show them how the safety latch works and reveals the manual extension handle. Can this trip the Gear Cont CB? Regardless, each time it has occurred a simple reset of the CB "fixed" the issue. What would you do? Clean contacts on gear control wiring? Order a new 5A CB? Wait for it to happen a few more times? Gear is cycling at normal speed and sounds and feels normal.
  2. I’m discussing a 20 owner part 91 operated jet share type model. Similar to a NetJets operating under part 91 but flying to part 135 standards.
  3. It is definitely a financial priority but the thing it unlocks are almost worth dying for. As you said I would not know my life without it. Next thing is trying to figure out how to own/operate a part 91 twin Cessna charter to let 20+- rich locals pay for my addiction and leverage my experience flying off to far lands for quick 24 hour getaways, day skiing in VT, dinner in Charleston, beach day in nags head. That’s my 10 year goal. I’m going to fight and do my best to keep it alive and the allure of private travel there.
  4. Straight up making me cry bro LOL I told my wife when I met her at 19 (27 now) I would own an airplane before we had a house and kids. She knew where my priorities were. She stuck by the old ratty rental 172s and a commache that was older then both of us combined… now that we fly our mooney m20J around she’s really becoming a believer. However when I think back to all the things that had to go right for me to make this work there definitely was a little bit of luck involved. However a lot of that luck was created by me opening my mouth and asking for things that were out of reach and unrealistic for people my age… but I love my life thinking “what is the worst someone could say no right?” It’s amazing what ask and you shall receive has done for me.
  5. Hmmm... I have heard to not eat yellow snow...BUT THAT BLUE SNOW LOOKS AMZING TO TRY!
  6. Well, That makes 2 of us. I know of an investor who could sneeze at 12 million too...former visa founder good friend of mine. Aviation nut. Falcon 50 & Piaggio p-180 owner. The only other idea I had was taking every single Mooney Serial # ever created and re-creating a pictute of the orginal scheme per the SN based on factory data into a picture of the orginal plane. With over 11K built. We could sell the orginal images of the airplane as an NFT (non fungible tokens). Let's say each orgional picture costs about $1,000. We would start with a working capital of about 11 million if we sold all 11,000 pictures. NFT's are DUMB but they ARE happening/Being Traded just like CRYPTO. If someone would spend 10k on "Digital Land" or 2 million on a picture of a monkey... they would 100% spend $1000.00 on a "Digtial Airplane". I feel like this could be done for other airplane brands as well. Okay Mooniacs, between the new, old and retired. How many of us would pick up and move to keep the dream alive? My wife would not be too happy, but I am sure she would come. GA is dying because we are letting it. We are NOT inspiring the next generation. They are stuck in a tic-toc enduced time warp and we need to pull them out. We need to get kids/teens to the airport and the AP shop. We were all inspired? Why the hell have we given up on inspiring others? I BET if 28-35 year olds knew they could purchase a mooney on a 20 year loan and fly it for less then their Porshe/Suburban lease or auto loan...they would JUMP on an airplane vs. a flashy car. Yes things have become more expensive and quickly. Parts more limited and harder to find but I think this is our fault. With all the tools in the world to share how amazing aviation is now, we are doing a terriable job at inspiring the next generation to get into this. Yes it's expensive. Yes access is limited, but that's life. We need to teach people to WORK to put themselves in the position they want to be in life. GA is NOT dying. GA pilots that inspiried us current pilots ARE. So time to do our part and get inspiring... @kmac
  7. YOU MAD MAN YOU FOUND THEM! Thank you so much @carusoam
  8. So I believe my left side panel on my M20J is sagging about 1/4 inch lower then it should be. This is likely caused by worn “rubber screws?” That reduce pannel vibration? I remember reading these need to be replaced every 10 years or so. With glare shield likely coming off at annual for refurb, has anyone ever replaced these “screws” ? Whats the real name of these “screws”? Where do I buy them? What to expect in labor for replacement?
  9. @LANCECASPER He is only likely trying to sell him his old pair of 2 bose A20 headsets he no longer needs LOL
  10. What a shame. It's always hard to make sense of things like this. My flightaware data on my airplane is so OFF from reality. I often watch todays popular youtube accident commentary and wonder... if I crash, how long before they are ripping apart my innaccurate flightaware data? Also Dan G the other day was calling pilots with 3000+ hours complete NEWBIES. I feel like 3k hours is plenty to know right from wrong. Regardless, RIP.
  11. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a nice post flight popsicle.
  12. Mike Mooney 201! What a great ride. My fiancé and I headed to Clearwater beach this week from KSBY she’s getting into longer flights (we’re both 27) & it’s a dream come true. We have flown about 170 hours since September and I am in AWE of the 201. It’s the best airplane I think I’ll ever own. keep on flying guys. Let’s keep GA alive.
  13. Question, After engine start are you leaning almost to engine shutdown? I find by doing this from startup/engine run-up it helps keep my plugs clean to the runup. You also may need you AP to adjust your mixture. Running to rich could cause this. In my CARB IO-530 in my old commahche 250 it would ALWAYS foul unless I leaned agressively after engine start. Now in my IO-360 fuel injected Lycoming in my M20J, it does not seem to be as much as an issue. When the rough engine happened during runup, did you attempt to run the engine up and lean aggressively to burn off plugs? Or just take back to hanger? Sounds like by the time you got back to hanger, the plugs burnt off all the gunk and you had a clean run-up after. Just my 2 cents worth 1
