  1. Thanks for the very clever "cheat sheet". I have forwarded this on to our manual publisher/editor. Would you mind if we adopted your work in future publications? I have asked him to review the current PMA8000BT manual (there have been some changes since 2014) to find these incorrectly embedded buttons and place them in the correct paragraphs. If you have specifics, I know he would very much appreciate your help. Please feel free to call me anytime, I'm at 865-988-9800. While engineering is what we do best, we try really hard to put out quality documents but it's not as easy as one would think. Sincerely, Mark
  2. Thanks for the feedback. Could you please tell me what serial number you have? I want to review the one for your panel. We’ve been building the PMA8000BT since 2006 and during the last 13 years we have made considerable amount improvements both in operation as well as the manual. Thanks for your help! If this is a current production unit, I personally will get involved with improving the Pilot Guide.
  3. Thanks OR75 for being our customer! I very much appreciate your trust in us. I just wanted to clarify one point, while the original PMA450 did use an LCD display, we replaced the LCD display to an OLED display in early 2016. A HUGE improvement. It also upgraded the standard USB charger to the USB-c charger (15 watts). Now the PMA450B has dual Bluetooth modules. You can see the difference by going to PMA450B Thanks again OR75! Mark
  4. I really appreciate all of the kind words. I’m currently exhibiting at the AOPA-Frederick Fly-In and I must say, I am humbled. It is amazing the number of pilots who come by just to say thank you. When it is me that is so appreciative for the pilots who trust us with their audio panels. We are here to help, let me know if you have any questions. Thanks Mark
  5. The KX170 is using airframe ground as the audio return, there are no wires to connect to the aircraft radio low that is indicated in the 340 or 345 connector. Hope this helps. Mark Scheuer PS Engineering
  6. I see a new PMA7000BT slide in replacement in your future! $1395 with simple log book entry. Mark Scheuer PS Engineering
  7. Too late, I am already having fun. But that doesn’t mean your harness might not be already on it’s way. We finish the harness within 5 working days but most of the time it’s quicker. Thanks for your order McMooney!
  8. NJMac, I would hope to be more aware then to ever say our products just don’t fail, they do, but it is rare. i am as concerned as you are with this unit. While I’m at the Gulf Shores AOPA fly-in, on Monday I’m going to get the design engineer to do a deep dive into this unit. there are registers that are used to store errors, we are going to pull those and I’ll report. please know that I totally believe that the unit failed to operate, it is my objective to determined what did happen. Have a great weekend Mark
  9. NJMac, we received your unit in today and our bench tech emailed this to me: “Mark, this unit came in today and I can find nothing wrong. Powers up, all functions check out, all grounds intact. Not sure where the problem was but I will let it cook for awhile.” So not sure what happened but as you can read, we are going to bake it for a while. It “might” have been a seating issue, we will learn more after the Tenny Chamber. sincerely Mark (remote at AOPA Gulf Shores fly-in)
  10. We reached out yesterday to your avionics shop, they are sending it back to us today. My guys are going to notify me the moment it arrives. I’m as interested in the failure as anyone. I’ll report here as soon as I find out what happened. Glad you are up and running. sincerely, Mark
  11. And I thought I worked a lot of hours! I can safely say that it is extremely unlikely that you will ever have another problem from your audio panel. The probabilities of having two bad experiences with any of our audio panels is next to zero. I don't want to come across boastful, but rather, confident from the data that our repair station gives me. In fact, I'm very proud to see our repairman (1) working on production rather than repairs. There are 5 shelves labeled Monday, Tuesday...Friday, it is not unusual at all to see all 5 empty. The fact that we have been producing intercoms and audio panels for 33 years and knowing the number of units that are out in the field makes me so proud what this little company can do. Maytag definitely had the right idea. (So did Hewlett Packard, you design in quality) But when there is a problem, that's when you find out just how good (or bad) the company is. Thanks for being our customer.
  12. Dear MJMak Holy smokes, I just found this thread. Fortunately our warranty exchange program is on autopilot. Now the question is, how is replacement unit working? Sorry for the hassle. Mark
  13. Hi Thomas: What saves a significant amount of installation time when upgrading from the KMA24 to the PMA7000B or BT is that the existing Molex connector is reinstalled into the PMA7000 tray. Only the intercom harness has to be made which is what the second Molex connector is for. And if the Copilot want to transmit, the Copilot PTT has to be wired to the top connector (this also provides our Split Mode (pilot on Com 1and Copilot on Com 2)). If the shop is a PS Engineering, dealer they should already know this and the quote will reflect this reduction of installation time. If you want advanced features, even though the time for install increases, the PMA8000B sells for $1295, so you do get a lot more capability with the actual hardware being relatively inexpensive. Here is a comparison that compares the two Hope this helps. Mark Scheuer PS engineering
  14. Hey Chris, really enjoyed our talk.......maybe I’ll recognize you this time in Oshkosh I’d like to gently make clear that the PMA450B is completely plug and play with the PMA450 and PMA450A. What you are referring to is the wiring for the new flightmate, which is a four channel aural alert system. If the pilot wants to use this new capability then those pins would have to be wired to the appropriate devices. You are correct, we do not have a trade in program but the vast majority of our dealers do. Finally, I want thank you publicly for the video you created with your PMA450A. Amazing number of views and very well done.
  15. Just Saying.......
  16. My only comment is that 1. Aviation Consumer compared GARMIN's 3D directly against our IntelliAudio and called it "A Better Way", you can read the reprint at www.ps-engineering.com/PMA450A.shtml 2. If you are going to go with a stand alone audio panel, you really should evaluate the user interface between the GMA350c and the PMA450A. Ask your avionics shop how to change music distribution on the 350c, do it nicely, he probably won't know how to you and you don't want him to feel bad. 3. USB-c is starting to be the new standard. It provide 15 watts of charging power. All iPad 4 require USB-c now and more iPads are going to need this type of power in the future 4. You get me for free! Actually, my entire dedicated team is here to assist you, audio control is all we have been doing since 1985. And we aim to keeping striving for excellence.
  17. Now for the Plug 'N Play PMA450A
  18. Paul, first, thank you very much for selecting our PMA450A. To answer your question about monitoring the standby frequency of the IFD, there are actually 3 switched inputs (selected by the Radio Softkey) that you can label them as MON 1 and MON 2. So you can use these switched inputs if you wanted to listen to more than two cons at one time. Not owning an IFD, I am not sure of the process to implement monitoring the standby frequency using the radio, but I bet someone on this board knows how! Thanks again for trusting us with your audio stuff. Sincerely, Mark Scheuer PS Engineering
  19. Hands down, for this pilot and airplane, the NGT9000 was perfect, couldn't be happier with it. While only traffic is displayed on my GNS430W, the color display on the 9000 is easy to read and navigate. Hope I'm not talking me out of a sale Its my understanding that to meet the 2020 requirement, GARMIN upgrades to GTX330ES is $1500 so for $2700 you've got a compliant GARMIN system.
  20. I had my Garmin GTX330 removed by a CRS from my PA-28A on 11/10/16 and replaced with ADS-B in/out compliant system. The GTX 330 is in perfect working condition and like new. The tray, back-plate, and connector (no pins) are included along with FAA Form 91.413 and the maintenance release. P/N 011-00455-00 S/N 84119512 $1200 free shipping Mark Scheuer
  21. Thanks Chris for the great review! Chris evaluated our PMA450A as a volunteer, there was no offer by PS Engineering of reimbursement or implied that there would be any incentive prior to or during his review. I appreciate his thoroughness as he spent at least a month flying behind the audio panel before writing he wrote up his evaluation. A couple of very quick notes: If you want to go immediately back to the previous menu, you simply press and hold any of the three soft-keys and you'll be back to the previous screen. The pilot can the delay time from 1 - 30 seconds, that it takes to go back to the primary screen. This is set up in the user set up menu. Once you get familiar with the functionality of the PMA450A, for me, the best delay time for me is 4 seconds. But as you are learning the system, it might be best to set to 8 or maybe even 10 seconds. The PMA450A is shipped with the three switched inputs labeled ADF, DME, and AUX. These three switched inputs can be labeled using up to 9 alphanumeric characters. The USB-C charger provides 15 Watts versus the standard USB at 10 Watts The advanced Bluetooth(R) functions provide caller ID, answer and hang-up, as well as volume control from the front panel. The continuous loop digital recorder, once playing, will display what com and message number is being heard. I appreciate Chris very much for taking the time to fly with the PMA450A and providing his evaluation here on the Money Space Forum. Sincerely, Mark Scheuer PS Engineering, Inc.

      Mark,

Can you send a logo for PS engineering to nick.elliott@mooneysummit.com? He will get PS engineering up on our sponsor page with a link to your website.

      Thanks

      Mike

  23. Dear Mike, can you please provide me the shipping address so that I can ship a donated PS Engineering stereo headset? I think Bill Gilliland Foundation deserves support from the aviation community and while this is not a major donation, it is my way of supporting this valiant effort. Mark Scheuer PS Engineering, Inc.
  24. Unfortunately, unlike larger companies that have budgets for donating products, we are a small but focused group and use some of our profits to better our community. PS Engineering is a financial supporter of Remote Area Medical (www.ramusa.org) and to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters National program (http://bbbscm.org) Where is your Summit being held this year? And when it is, maybe I can set up a booth? Mark
