It was a most excellent show! We had 7 media organizations at our booth for a Monday morning press conference. I have never had so much interest in new products that we had on July 25th. It is always good to speak with you, I gain much knowledge. Mark

The PMA8000G would look great on top of that stack!! Mark Scheuer PS Engineering, Inc.

M20C Panel Upgrade Experience, Thoughts & Product Reviews
Mscheuer replied to MitchS's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Dear DXB, I sure would appreciate a brief PIREP on your upgrade from the PMA6000 to the PMA7000B? And thank you very much for sticking with us. sincerely, Mark Scheuer PS Engineering, Inc. -
I am happy to see you decided to keep your PMA7000B audio panel. Will you be going to AERO-Friedrichshafen Terbang? While I won't have it at the show (bringing the PAR200A and PMA8000BTi) there is now a plug n play upgrade for your panel, known as the PMA7000BT. Bluetooth and a more robust user interface. I will be co-exhibiting with Avionik Straubing, Adam Aviation, and hopefully with Air Team. If you attend, I'd enjoy meeting you, this will be my first AERO! Sincerely, Mark Scheuer

audio panel question--pma450 vs 8000bt
Mscheuer replied to rbridges's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Dear rbridges (I looked at your profile but could not find your first name) Thanks to your wife I hope that you too will be a member for our fan club. Just wanted to let you know that with 100's in the field, we have never had a complaint about the PMA450 display from pilots who are flying behind them. There is a user set up page just for the display that allows changes to brightness, contract, and timer out between secondary and primary pages. I sure would appreciate a PIREP from you sometime. Sincerely, Mark Scheuer Founder and CEO PS Engineering, Inc. -
Yes, but your wife would have to plug her headset into one of the pax headset jacks. Mark Scheuer PS-Engineering, Inc.

Dear Don: The Bose A20 headset does not provide music streaming, only telephone. So it is not possible to listen to music in the A20 other than what an intercom or audio panel provides. The PMA450 has both Bluetooth(BT) streaming and telephone, with the added benefit of a graphics display which includes caller ID. Finally, the music distribution and muting mode are customizable for the Pilot, Copilot, and Passengers. For example, the Pilot might want to hear BT music and have both the intercom and radio mute the music while the copilot may want to hear that same music but not have the mute at all. Finally, the passengers would like to hear their own music with nothing muting the music. While the PMA8000BT has flexibility, the PMA450 has complete control who hears what and when. I wanted to address rbridges questions directly, and NOT make this an advertising pitch! Sincerely, Mark Scheuer Founder and CEO PS Engineering, Inc.

God Morning Humberto: One important capasbility is our IntelliAudio. Aviation Consumer just did an evaluation of the PMA450 and did a quick comparison of our IntelliAudio and GARMIN's GMA350 3D audio. You can read that by going to www.ps-engineering.com/docs/Aviation_Consumer_PMA450.pdf. What they pointed out is that they found the 3D overwhelming. I believe this is because the passengers sound like they are coming from behind your head while the copilot is coming from your right ear. IntelliAudio places passengers and copilot in both ears, which is totally natural for pilots who have used intercoms before. IntelliAudio allows the pilot to place Com 1 and Com 2 in 9 different positions. This allows the pilot not only to tailer the configuration that best suits the pilot but it also can be used as an aid for someone who has a partial hearing loss in one ear. You can read what Aviation Consumer felt about our implementation of True Dimensional sound. The graphics display and 3-Soft key interface really makes the advanced functions easy to use. Just playing with the panel for a while will give the pilot a good under standing in how to use it. Compare our interface to learning the key strokes on the GMA350 that uses flashing Blue lights as an indication you are changing to something as simply changing how the music sources are routed, is not necessarily trivial. There are two simulators on our web site www.ps-engineering.com/PMA450.shtml that you can download, one is for operational demonstrations and the other is for IntelliAudio demonstration that allows you to move the Coms around in a stereo headset connected to your computer. I'd enjoy speaking with you if you would like to talk in more detail. Thanks for your response and your interest. Sincerely, Mark Scheuer PS Engineering

Dear Maraurder, the first answer is the Annunciation's are secondary and thus, the configuration announcements will be delayed when "other" functions are being initiated. You'll notice that at time they will announce immediately upon power up and other times there is a delay. If this is distracting, you can turn off the power up Annunciations, call me Monday and I'll walk you through. The second question the answer is probably not. I listened to the audio and it appears the front end of the radio is somehow being overdriven. You'll notice the AGC kicks in when the radio became active. There are no AGC circuits in our audio panel. Finally, there are 3 major advantages the PMA450 has over the PMA8000 series 1) IntelliAudio - True Dimensional Sound 2) extremely easy to use, if you can read English, you probably won't ever open up the pilot guide more than once. The graphics display and soft-keys helps you easily configure the unit 3) advanced Bluetooth capabilities including caller ID, phone volume control and answering capability from the front panel. There is actually a whole lot of capability that the 8000 does not have. While we don't have a trade in program I'm pretty sure you'll have little trouble having your dealer offer a reasonable trade in, the 8000 is still our largest seller. Hope this helps Mark Scheuer PS Engineering 865-988-9800

Dear Hramirez8 ( I tried finding your name in your profile but no joy) Have you considered the PMA450? I'm not going to make this a sales pitch at all but I wanted to get a reading if you looked at it before you made your GMA350 decision. If you hadn't , id be grateful to give you the three major advantages the PMa450 brings to a panel. Thanks for letting me chime in here, audio panels is the central nervous system of your aircraft and careful consideration might be a worth while investment. Sincerely, Mark Scheuer PS Engineering, Inc

Actually, the KMA30 is our PMA8000BT with the BK looks. The PMA450 is only available in PSE cosmetics. But, it happens to use the same coloring as the GTN750, along with the same radius corners. Hope this helps Mark Scheuer PS Engineering

Tom, glad to see our new PMA450 on top of your potential new panel upgrade. I've attached the Aviation Consumer reprint from Sept 2014 which gives some great insights on just how well our new IntelliAudio works as well as the 3-Softkey Graphics Display User interface works. If I can answer any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Sincerely, Mark Scheuer www.ps-engineering.com AviationConsumer_PMA450.pdf

Dear FoxMike The tray is actually smaller but the faceplate is the same size 1.3" X 6.25" While the connectors are different, all of the wires are already at the panel, there is no rewiring, just re-pinning. We have a cheat sheet for the avionics shop that makes the process easier. Let me know if you want me to email it. There is an Aviation Consumer Product Review which I believe will be in the next issue. They evaluated our I telliAudio extensively, this article might be helpful for you to decide if it will assist you in your radio communications. Sincerely, Sincerely, Mark Scheuer

Yes, the PMA450 is a slide in replacement for the PMA8000BT. And the tray and installation kit comes with the PMA450 when you buy it so you would use it to sell along with the PMa8000BT. No need to buy anything extra. Mark Scheuer PS Engineering, Inc.

It is not a slide in replacement to the GMA350 but rather the GMA340 Sorry about that.

Yes, and with GMA340

Hi there "a" The PMA450 is the only panel with these attributes. No plans are in place to provide to our other partners at this time. We have almost 2 years of development along with all of the costs to certify, it's time to start to whittle down our debt!

We don't take in trade-ins but I can assure you that your PS Engineering dealer would be more than happy to trade-in your 8000. Right now, you just can't find any used 8000's on eBay, so the law of supply and demand plays well here Mark

There aren't any special integration to the IFD series that I'm aware of. There is with Release 9 however. The big difference is the look and feel. I can tell you that Avidyne did an amazing job in the design of the bezel. You can't go wrong with either system, it really will be a personal choice of functionality, cosmetics, and user interface.

Dear Patrick: What we are going to do for customers who have purchased the PMA8000 series on or after June 15, 2014 is to give the dealer full credit upon the return of the PMA8000 that must be in like new condition, and then sell them the PMA450 without the install kit by way of the dealer. If the unit is not like new, there will be a restocking fee that would not exceed 20% of the dealer's net price. We also would need to get a copy if the original invoice of the purchased PMA8000. Hope this helps! Mark Scheuer PS Engineering

I have been lurking here for some time but never had the opportunity to post in response to a technical question pertaining to intercoms or audio panels. My name is Mark Scheuer and I founded PS Engineering in 1985. What has prompted this post is we just announced the certification and shipments of the PMA450 audio panel. Two of the most significant functions of the panel is that is has IntelliAudio and a 3 Softkey Interface with graphics display. It is also plug and play with the Garmin GMA340. If anyone has any questions about this new product, I'd be delighted to answer them. I don't want this to come across as too much of a brash advertisement, but I think the enhancements that this audio panel beings to the GA cockpits warrants at least a mention. Sincerely, Make Scheuer PS Engineering, Inc. www.ps-engineering.com
