  1. DM sent Rob. Thanks for the plug Dan.
  2. Cons are blow by bi products (combustion acids, etc) are dumped back into your crankcase to magnify contamination of oil supply, and it can disguise a ring issue, Pros are you don't have to clean the belly as often.
  3. Dan we missed you and Fran. Did I mention there is a casino close by......?
  4. Dear Mooney Enthusiast, I am sad to report that long time member Phil Baumann passed away on August 28. He started coming to our lunches in June 2004, just 6 months after we started, and came frequently thereafter. He will be missed. We had good weather for our last event and 6 Mooneys brought 10 people to Winter Haven for a good time of visiting and eating. Our next event will be this Saturday, October 14, at Flagler (FIN). Foreflight shows their price of 100LL at $5.62 for self serve at this time. All events start at 11:30. Future events: October 14, Flagler (FIN). November 11, Lakeland (LAL) December 9, Sebring (SEF) Please let me know by Thursday if you are going to try to come so I can give the restaurant an approximate headcount. If you tell me you are coming, and can’t come do not worry about telling me, just do not come. I do not want anyone flying for any reason if they shouldn’t. Hope to see you soon, Dave and Ruth 11605 Lane Park Rd. Tavares, FL. 352-408-3343
  5. Congrats to Alex Gertsen and Dan Bass for putting on such a superb, professional event. The speakers were outstanding, the food exceeded everyone's expectations, the facilities were absolutely first rate. Having Frank Crawford from Mooney give us the "inside scoop" on what was going on at Mooney was quite a nice surprise. Well done! The Mooney Summit couldnt be in better hands.
  6. I've seen pics of the event space and these guys really raised the bar this year. I am thrilled the next gen Mooney owners have stepped up to continue to make the Mooney Summit one of the premier GA events.
  7. You guys really pulled this together! Thanks Alex, Dan, it is no small feat! I'll see everyone Friday
  8. The Batteries dont last forever and with one gone, the other will probably be weak soon enough. I simply pointed out an opportunity to get a certificate good for a new Concorde Battery and help out the Mooney Community. One of course could wait and take their chances of them even being available from the distributor as Mimi unfortunately found out the hard way recently when she needed one and couldnt scrounge one up. Thanks Concorde for donating this to the Mooney Summit Silent auction.
  9. John, Alex must have mis linked it in his post. It works on the website. Here is a link to the website, Here is a link to the agenda. See you there
  10. One of the planes I used to own and heavily restored will be there. I hope he enters, and maybe lets me fly the sweet ride again
  11. You will need another soon
  12. A quick reminder Concorde has donated a 12 or 24v battery to the Mooney Summit Silent Auction Here is an easy way to contribute to the Mooney community while buying something you might need anyway. https://app.galabid.com/summitix/items Yo do not have to attend the Mooney Summit to bid on items in our silent auction. All money goes to assisting downed Mooney Pilots families thru the Bill Gilliland Foundation
  13. Personally, I set up for go around by going rich when I have the field made.
  14. Maybe he will bring her as his "plus 1" to the Mooney Summit next weekend! It will be great to see you again @carusoam with or without the arm candy
  15. And they have donated one to the Mooney Summit Silent Auction Thanks McFarlane!
  16. Oh, and Lightspeed has donated a Delta Zulu headset to the Mooney Summit Silent auction! Now is your chance to own this great best in class headset with a built in CO alert You do not have to be present to bid on items and know that every dollar goes to the Bill Gilliland foundation to aid downed Mooney Pilots families at the time of their greatest need. https://app.galabid.com/summitix/items
  17. Sensorcon has once again donated a few AV8 inspectors to the Mooney Summit raffle this year. EDIT, it was not sensorcon who donated them but their largest distributor Inspector Tools. They also offer a $20 off discount to attendees of the Mooney Summit. See Dan Bass for details!

  19. When I had my F, I lost 5 kts in cruise with a 3 blade hartzel, and it wasnt able to be balanced smooth, in spite of Piqua (Hartzell) having 3 swings at the plate to do it. Finally, ordered a 2 blade and it was night and day. I probably wouldnt have noticed the vibration if I had not previously had a 2 blade on it, much like a helo pilot doesnt notice the vibration of those things. But what Paul says for advantages were true. Better climb, built in speed brake when chopping power. Extra 17# hanging in front of the main bearing on the engine to deal with.
  20. Make sure you ask how much Avemco wants to add your CFI to the policy while you work on your instrument. They have been known to "surprise" you with this as an adder while other carriers dont.
  21. Elon works in warp speed...It was Spacex that developed and gave the list of issues to address to the FAA. The FAA does not hire expertise in these areas so that was smart to work with the guys who actually know what they are doing. David, you should be able to see that from the country club up on the hill! I can see what they launch from Kennedy from my house on the other side of the state usually, and this sucker will be lighting up the sky if at night.
  22. The inner ring of the spinner needs to be a very snug press fit onto the prop bulkhead, or this can happen. Tightness and integrity Should be checked at annual at a min, and to see if any play (IE cracks on backplate by grabbing the snout and checking for movement) during preflight. The A1A engine and the 3 blade Hartzells seem to have a desire to shake some regardless of how well they are balanced, but that wasnt this combo
  23. Dear Mooney Enthusiast, We had basically good weather for our last event and 8 Mooneys brought 13 people to Fort Pierce for a good time of visiting and eating. Our next event will be this Saturday, September 9, at Winter Haven ( KGIF). Foreflight shows their price of 100LL at $5.65 for self serve All events start at 11:30. Future events: September 9, Winter Haven (GIF). October 14, Flagler (FIN). November 11, Lakeland (LAL) Please let me know by Thursday if you are going to try to come so I can give the restaurant an approximate headcount. If you tell me you are coming, and can’t come do not worry about telling me, just do not come. I do not want anyone flying for any reason if they shouldn’t. Hope to see you soon, Dave and Ruth 11605 Lane Park Rd. Tavares, FL. 352-408-3343
