Will into you to Dan and a few other 2700 ers....

Don, Mark was fully briefed by Kevin K Mark W and Dan on the use of the low boost pump during his factory transition training. The entire FITS based scenario training standards were satisfactorily completed by Mark. This doesnt say vapor lock didnt come into play, but coming from someone who has done 90% of the new Ultra Acclaim transitions, rest assured he was properly instructed. Please dont infer he wasnt properly trained here unless you know he wasnt. The lawyers will be swimming all over this as it is. As you know, I personally did not do Marks training as I was doing another Ultra Acclaim at that time, but did debrief everyone. Mike Elliott Mooney Pros, Inc. MCFI FAASTEAM Lead Rep.

6-10-23 Florida Mooney Lunch Group
mike_elliott replied to mike_elliott's topic in Florida Mooney Flyers
Dear Mooney Enthusiast, We had a really bad weather forecast for our last event, lunch at Williston. As a result, we only had two people show up, and we came in a Tesla. The conversation was limited as we discussed everything on the drive over. We did bring chocolate chips for Carol to put in the pancakes, and they were very good. Our next event will be this Saturday, August 12 at Fort Pierce (FPR). Current price of 100LL listed on Foreflight at $5.75. All events start at 11:30. Future events: August, 12, Fort Pierce (FPR). September 9, Winter Haven (GIF). October 14, Flagler (FIN). Please let me know by Thursday if you are going to try to come so I can give the restaurant an approximate headcount. If you tell me you are coming, and can’t come do not worry about telling me, just do not come. I do not want anyone flying for any reason if they shouldn’t. Hope to see you soon, Dave and Ruth 11605 Lane Park Rd. Tavares, FL. 352-408-3343 -

Oasis Aero (a Mooney Summit Sponsor this year with a donation of an Annual inspection) can get this done in short order. Thanks Eric! Some lucky bidder will have a first rate maintainer work on his plane while supporting the Mooney Community !

Back-cylinder (#1/#2) CHTs in Ovation IO-550.
mike_elliott replied to Jeff Uphoff's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
--up #5 is typically the "hot guy" on the Ovation and there is even a hangar elf tweak to help this. Absolutely swap probes to rule out the problem temp traveling or staying put as a first step. Where is your #1 & #2 falling on the "gami" spread in relation to each other? IOW, Are they the first and last to peak and FF when peaked? If some hints are not discovered, ping Paul Kortopates @kortopates and get some experienced chart reading done -
Need exchange fuel pump for IO550
mike_elliott replied to Amelia's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Don uses a shop in Denton, aircraft carb and Fuel injection repair I believe. It will be totally rebuilt to new specs. Yea, it's usually a .25 o ring, but $1500 later, you'll be good to go Important note, Conti FI pumps should be OH accd to the Continental schedule , this is often overlooked. I think they suggest 1k hrs -
Dan, in July and Aug, it gets 92 or so here darned near every day but very rarely any hotter. Fortunately where my home is, the Gulf acts as a swamp cooler so its not too bad, but a few miles inland, the humidity is a beast. When I was a hoosier, it would get above 92 quite often. All that said, if you dont like hot weather, stay away. Do you part, eat bugs yada yada... I dont know how the guys in TX stand the heat, but then again, I dont know how the guys in Minot stand the cold. In fact, I dont know much at all when it comes right down to it. Surprized the door seal stuck, especially with some Dow 9 dressing on it (fletch is also good to do). Once it snows here, how about you and Fran pay alice and I a visit, Hard rock is not far....

Dont confuse yourself into messing up a great setting. Lance explains how to find out how far LOP you are, simply do the big pull on the engine page with the Lean button engaged. Knowing your approx fuel flow target helps some, and your engine will start to B!tch if you get carried away with the red money knob. Sounds like the new cylinders are just fine. Those temps will assure lead scavaging, and the 1600 ish TIT will keep the exhaust from liquifying on you. Next time we get together, I want you to teach me all about LOP. Enjoy that beautiful plane and take Fran someplace lucky

Solved: Are my main gear hitting the wing on retract?

Those are not the "monster" retreads that have been known to catch in the well are they? Smart move to have a swing test done. Jake at Daytona can do this in short order for you -

Thanks for bringing it to our attention. @DanM20CDan is something you have a handle on, or want me to mess with it and ultimately call in big Rick? EDIT: Regfox simply gives us a button to check and why specific instructions are to check both buttons if you are bringing your spouse. That said, I also see it will be easy to add her. @DanM20C let me know if you want me to undertake this.

Last year everyone ride shared and it worked well. Atlas Aviation doesnt have a herd of crew cars. Most of the hotels have a shuttle service to KTPA which is where the conference will be held. Fortunately, pilots are well versed on how to get around once they land from all the practice they get when they fly their planes. There were a few of the local EAA guys show up and they offered to take some to their hotels.

Ill Answer for Dan, as he is probably up to his ears in Oshkosh stuff riight now. Your paid registration includes your wife, as you will be able to list her when you register. Registration fees are to offset direct event costs like Sat night meal, reception, tables and chairs, presenter rooms, etc. We look forward to seeing you both!

I have done the southern route a number of times, and find out west no lower than 12K. The plane is happier at 10K but routes suggest higher. Your well aware to avoid the NM West TX afternoon flights in the summer unless you like having your A$$ handed to you with turbolence. VFR gives you more leeway on alt and routing, IFR is safer if any issues develope. Just ask Mike Patey....(good job Mike)

Hank, I had no issue registering and submitting my credit card payment. @DanM20C (whos probably at OSH) Ill monitor registration activity if you like and let you if I think we have an issue. @Hank if you resubmit and it double charges, of course we will make it right and we will be able to see it via the registration log.

On the G1000 and NXI it makes practicing things like the Overhead 360, precision landings etc almost too easy. A very nice addition. On the Aspen, I didnt find it to be that valuable but sure do on the Garmin stuff.

Ovation Pre-Buy - Speed question
mike_elliott replied to Ed de C.'s topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
There is about a 5-7 kt give up for tks in the ovations at 10k 100 ROP vs non tks from what I have observed. If this is the plane Clarence has been maintaining, I'm sure it is in rig, otherwise, you might have your prebuy shop put the travel boards on it and make sure it's in rig -

@Danb, here is your cue! -
For me, its not a matter of insisting on approach flaps, it is a matter of developing in a new instrument student good habits, and proper configuration for the phase of flight. As one moves up to bigger equipment, this becomes more and more critical with less wiggle room, so we try to start new IR clients off with structure and regimentation here.
