  1. I removed mine and gained 2 more hours per quart.
  2. S.B.M20-273 can account for some of the Fuel leaks in the long bodies. It appears the factory machine was making over sized rivet holes for a short period of time. My plane was resealed by Weep-No-More before I bought it and has had no problems since. S.B. M20-273.pdf S.B. M20-273.pdf
  3. If you stop at KGAY watch your 6 O'clock!
  4. Wow are they lucky!
  5. Put the canon in that clean Bravo and land it on the dirt next time! How did you get it out there?
  6. I figured you would just snuggle into one of the big creases of one of your girlfriends:)
  7. We got bumped around but I think we where after the big stuff. There was a lot complaining on the radios about turbulence. One guy said his dog got pinned to the roof going over that mountain SW of the lake bed.
  8. Ok, the new format is a little hard for me:) somehow the typing got between the 3rd and 4th picture.
  9. That was cool, xrs135 I'm glad you posted this event! The airplane drag races was something else and I still think a Mooney could take the big tire on:)
  10. Looks like Stinkbug and I are going to make! 2 more Mooneys on the dirt, should be fun!!
  11. I was unaware of it! Can you give us a link?
  12. Mine looks the same as well!
  13. I was a previous "hanger" offender. I punished myself with 12 hours of Hangar arrest and required myself to clean it completely.
  14. That system is awesome! I have used 2 gallons of DI water from the store and a pesticide sprayer for the final rinse with great success. I mostly use a service these days because the amount of flying I do into bug country. Flying my plane over farmland being pollinated by Bees and Butterfies requires a lot of elbow grease to keep it clean. I think an all black plane would self combust where I fly! All white almost does.
  15. I posted on one of the G1000 threads about this. When talking to my avionics guy he said he thought it was possible and would interface with the G1000. While space is tight it is still possible to get it in the panel when I was looking at it. It would seem to me to be the most cost effective method of getting WAAS into these birds.
  16. My non-turbo calls for trying the low first and if that doesn't work then try the high.
  17. Could you do it again this weekend? I wish I could of made it! I was trying to move my Colorado trip to tie it all together. I fly over Page all the time. Obama's visit to San Diego shut down my airport, my neighborhood (the golf course he played at) and being unable to move my Colorado obligation, I couldn't make it. Hopefully you do it again! In regards to Obama, what a motorcade! I was brushing my teeth in my bathroom and out my window I saw a never ending line of motorcycles and black SUV's driving by on the way to the club house. Its amazing the volume of people and law enforcement that accompanies him.
  18. It won't take you long to get over your last plane when you can do 9.6 gph at 163 ktas
  19. He almost did with the knee high white socks and the extra long Dolphin shorts!
  20. It's good to be a "the glass is half full" kinda person. If you fly from big airport to big airport you will not have any problems. The future is defiantly WAAS approaches and GPS navigation. I wish I could find the publication that had the stats for new LPV approaches to airports that didn't have prior precision approaches but it was around 3000 last year. Land based Nav stations are being decommissioned routinely. Maintenance of the ILS at my home field and as I'm sure with others has left me know choice but to use my preferred LPV approach many times.
  21. The G1000 situation is sad! It kept me from buying a newer long body. I went with an older airframe that had significant panel work already completed then finished it off the exact way I wanted it. Couldn't be happier.
  22. I have seen this plane in person and it is as clean as they get! It doesn't change the fact it still a L and the associated problems that come with it. The original L have a single level for power control. The few STC converted planes maintain that. The L that crashed on the go around awhile back at KMYF was believed to be a complication with the linkage for the single lever power control. That is why it didn't develope power for the go around. When talking to the owner in the past it sounded like it was know problem.
  23. If my plans to go to Colorado go through I will be there for lunch. Working on a few details.
  24. I'm based at KMYF and am there often your welcome to come sit in my long body to see how it feel. Im 6'4", 225lbs with a 35/36" inseam and fit better in a Mooney than other planes I've flown. I actually think my previous J had more leg room than my current S. I was wondering if my had rudder pedal extensions but I don't know what they look like. Regardless leg room is not an issue.
  25. I recently had my my backup vacuum AI replaced with electric, it was my last vacuum dependent instrument. The shop I use is by the book and they had no problem removing my vacuum system in my M20S. I gained 11lbs of useful load.
