  1. Look at the picture above of @StinkBug‘s plane everything red is wrap. Rudder and ailerones have wrap on them. He has not gone out of control and crashed his plane. I drive by his plane 2X a week and it has no signs of peeling off and it looks great, it works! I have 2 vehicle that I have wrapped. I have held a pressure washer on the wrap and it has not come off or get damaged.
  2. Probably just fuel boiling out of the lines as a result of a hot engine after shut down but check it out to make sure.
  3. @StinkBug did a lot with his plane. Turned out great!
  4. I have an office I fly to weekly that is in an farming community. A couple crop dusting companies based there still have piston planes in their fleet with the 720 in them. They recently had to replace a crank in one of them and the part cost $27,000 used since they don't make them anymore. Add to that the airport is 50' below sea level so they run full rich all day long, yikes!
  5. Is the pillow fight over yet?
  6. Overall looks good! I would replace “most popular” with “most searched” and “other brands” with “all brands”.
  7. Sorry but we are the “other brand”
  8. Could just been from water puddle up in the fuel cap recess. As you picked up airspeed it blew backward and froze. Just a thought?
  9. I have friends that have blocked theirs. I don’t know how to do it but it is possible.
  10. When trying to reduce my GAMI spread in my J I went as far as to put a bead of RTV around each one and it helped!
  11. I saw no change in consumption as a result of initial use of CamGuard. I have only seen beneficial effects but have no evidence it is directly a result of using it. I started using CamGuard after bore scoping my engine a few times and noticed oil pooling and what appeared to be cylinder glazing. My engine only a couple hundred hours on it and at first I thought the glazing was corrosion on the cylinder walls. I believed the glazing occurred when the new engine and prop was installed and it wasn’t reaching 2700 rpm per the STC. The mechanics ran it couple of hours on the ground with the new cylinders. After 3 oil changes and a few high powered runs the glazing was gone and oil consumption decreased as if the engine finally broke in. At that point I was burning a quart every 10-14 hours. I can not difinitevly say CamGuard was responsible for the good results but I still us it. As a side note I tend to fall for marketing hype! I thinking of getting a few cooper skillets and a bullet hose:)
  12. After reading another thread about oil consumption with IO-550 I started overfilling by a quart and adding Camgard. So far I have seen a pretty decent drop in consumption. Mine wasn’t bad before but is less now, I want to do a couple of changes to confirm. This is opposite of what I used to do with my J.
  13. Looks like the stud sheared off or pulled out? Over torquing over the years can cause that to happen.
  14. I would curious about this as well. On take off the tower asked if everything was okay and one of them replied it was a training flight which I assume it was the CFI. I don't know who is responsible at that point but it sure sounded like the CFI was taking the authority for the flight.
  15. Don't over look any potential intake leaks.
  16. I’m assuming it is a common TIT probe for both turbos? It would be nice if there was something that could have indicated one was offline.
  17. That is comforting and nice redundancy!
  18. Maybe the pilot was writing down a clearance with their feet off the brakes and didn't realize the plane started moving?
  19. I know there are a lot of happy turbo owners on the forum. With having several friends having turbo failures as well as several on this forum I have always been hesitant of a single turbo engine. I like the idea of a true TN engine because if the turbo fails it is just a NA engine but the factory doesn't offer that. What about a twin turbo like the M20TN? I know its not truly turbo normalized but with it having 2 turbos does that actually add to the redundancy? If one of the turbo fail does the other compensate but with less performance? I keep eyeing them and that might persuade me to go that direction.
  20. Great job Eric! Glad you are safe!!
  21. Are you sure they weren't chrome before?
  22. I would just buy and addition Ipad and put screen film on it for the glare. Garmin Pilot, Ipad and blue tooth give you way more user interface than the 200. In addition no panel reconfiguration, W&B, ect.
  23. Nice thing about Canada is that landing on a road is still an option. Here is southern California I just stare at bumper to bumper traffic and know the ocean is my only out if I'm close enough.
