As the OP of this post I should have said what I decided: I went with the Artex 345, and so far (1 year in) it’s all good.

Lasar Aviation Mooney Assurance Program - Really?
IvanP replied to PeteMc's topic in General Mooney Talk
I am curious what "exclusive discount" would one get for $6,000 a year? What if you do not need any Mooney parts for 5 years - just flushed $30k donwn the toilet unless you find the "quarterly briefings" (whatever that may be) valuable. I am all for helping LASAR stay in business and maintain the fleet, but somehow I fail to see the value propositiion for plane owners here. The site does not offer much in tems of specifics. Looks like "access to portal" that shows what parts are available will now be paid . Do you have to be a member to buy parts? As some other members observed, the parts link is gone from Lasar's site and since Mooney does not sell parts any more, it seems that we are collectively SOL for any parts needed. Not even Rolls Royce dealerships charge monthly fee for the pribvilege of having access to their website -

Lasar Aviation Mooney Assurance Program - Really?

The Mooney Assurance Program was rolled out at MooneyMAX in Branson Mo today. Looking forward to MMGA Making Mooney Great Again -
Hello, I had an A&P install a fuel pressure gauge that came off a 80s model M20J on my 83 M20J. The reason being was that the stock fuel pressure gauge was removed when the panel was redone and a EDM 830 was installed. Attached is a photo of the back of the gauge. The power wire is coming from the USB breaker to (IGN) side. The center nut has a wire from the transducer and a ground wire, that is grounded to the screw on the airframe. The nut on the left side of photo is the other wire from transducer. Every time I turn on the master, the breaker on the USB pops. I tried several different grounds and it still pops every time the master is turned on. Is the wiring correct? The gauge is installed on the plastic area next to flap switch, so the housing for the gauge is not mounted to metal. Thank you,

Using the fixed step is a Minor Alteration and only needs an A&P sign off.

Thoughts? Their kids are headed to college on the Mooney Pilot Scholarship plan -
I just ran across the below link on FB which takes to a Lasar page to sign up for Mooney Assurance. Thoughts? Bronze = $200/mo Silver = $350/mo Gold = $500/mo 10 year Gold = $25,000 https://www.lasaraviation.com/

The ACK ELT-04 has a history of self-activation in flight. They are junk. They inherited the faulty G switches from the previous ELT-01 design. Zero stars, not recommended. I have six in the scrap pile so far. And another one to join it soon, as ACK has been unable to fix it after three tries. The best option is the Artex ELT 345. The battery lasts one year longer than the competition, saving you money. It's a solid piece of engineering too.

I was in Indy 10/3 and was cooking pretty good, but 180mph NOT knots...lol.

A few years ago I saw that I had apparently I flown to Europe or something like that, but I don’t remember it.

I replaced the ancient ACK-01 with an ACK-04, which does everything you mentioned. You'll need a different antenna, too, to support the 406MHz output. I've been very happy with it, and it works because I've gotten contacted after the 406MHz went off a couple times inadvertently during maintenance.

Not helpful but very funny

My #2 lasted 7 years before going crazy alarming whenever it wanted and not allowing me to silence it - this can lead to some in flight and post flight drama. It could not be remedied, and my avionics guy said this cheapest option often goes bad. I replaced with the slightly more expensive #1, which he recommended and has been problem free for the last 3.5 years. I hope it stays that way.

CO2 detectors the "Good The Bad and The Ugly
Jackk replied to Jpravi8tor's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
The way most will get their candle snuffed out from their gut, major cause of death is MIs and strokes, by and LARGE the biggest factor there is being FAT Anyone who is above their target BMI I will laugh at if they talk about “safety” Frankly the Gov goes not keep you safe, rules don’t keep you safe, “safety” is much like the Easter bunny, it’s a made up thing for underdeveloped brains to feel happy about. If YOU want to add a CO YOU can add one, but you have zero say what I do, or anyone else does. Heck look at the majority cause of crashes, it’s PILOT error, ie the person just sucks at flying, guess we could have daddy gov say no one with under 3000tt and who doesn’t log at least 50hrs a month should be able to fly, that would make us “safer” no? -
I had a vibration. Had the prop balanced. A month later started slinging prop oil. Took it to the propeller company for a reseal. The hub was cracked. Replacing the hub was going to be half the price of a new prop. After 62 years, I bought a new prop.

Hey all! Quick refresh on the topic… The O is in annual, needs ELT modernization. options are… 1) Artex 345 2) ACK E-04 3) Kannad Integra 4) want to have 406mhz, 121.5, and GPS data connected to it… - I believe the old one is an Artex. - there is a GDL52(?) mounted on the shelf in the tailcone. (GPS data for the older BK X-ponder) reusing old footprints would be nice if able. expecting to replace all of the 30yr old equipment. as usual… plane is 1kmi away from me, unable to look what’s there… expect Mooney standards for 1994… Thank you for the words of advice! Best regards, -a-

The whole engine mount was replaced back in 1979 to comply. I personally saw the gussets this past weekend during an oil change. Interestingly, my tail was owned by the Mooney chief engineer at the time (I forget his name without looking in the records) so it received top treatment.

Looking for any recommendations to shops anywhere in or around VA (NC, OH, PA, MD) for a GFC500 install. Preferably somewhere that has installed on Mooneys before. Thanks for any info.

Panel is done! Had to get a bit creative on the pilot side defroster as we needed about a half inch more clearance but the shop took care of that! Labels next and flight test next week. Ap is already programmed!

Mouser said no longer made. Digikey says $474 but you may have to buy 10 of them with a 36 week lead time. https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/honeywell-sensing-and-productivity-solutions/1CH6-1/25328001 also in the original post, the limit switch controls the actuator, if switch was not working, the motor would keep running and the gear would be in a spot of bother. Might have just had a loose ground on the warning light.
