  2. The Turbo charged Ovation is the Acclaim Now if one has too much cash than they know what to do with they could approach Tornado Alley to see about getting their turbo normalizing system for the IO-550 fitted to the Ovations IO-550-G/N but this is beyond silly because the Acclaim has an excellent turbo system with a proven record.
  3. Today
  4. Had you posted your interest in N562BG on here before spending the money on the pre-buy we could have told you much of what the pre-buy told you . . . for nothing. I have pictures and logbooks and info in a file on dropbox that I would have gladly shared. Brian is the best at what he does, but spending the money to have Brian Kendrick travel out to look at that airplane is a little like hiring Picasso to paint your tool shed. Every once in awhile someone comes on here mentioning that they are looking at an airplane, asking all kinds of questions, but they are afraid to give too many details since they're afraid that someone will swoop in and buy it before they do. In 15+ years on here I've never seen that happen. It usually takes us about 10 minutes to figure out which airplane it is anyway. The Mooney community is small and tight-knit. People on here share lessons that they've learned. We don't charge each other for that. I might share one thing today but it's likely I'll need two things tomorrow. That's the community that we are. It's a net win for everyone that contributes.
  5. Unfortunately, somebody needs to crawl up under the panel with their head in the footwells and see what is happening. If it isn’t obvious, they (you) need to turn on the avionics, put the headphones on while down there, and start shaking wires till you find the bad one.
  6. So if the OP wants a factory turbocharged Mooney, it's K, M, or Acclaim.
  7. I did notice when I did trigger it with pulling back on the yoke, the transmit symbol did not show up on the GTN. Would you expect to see the Tx there if it was the PTT? Also, I think that switch was replace just 3 years ago on pilot side.
  8. You can surely try again, but I usually skip the website and go directly to Heather via email. Last I checked was September and they didn’t have any. I’ve been trying for ~8 months.
  9. Ha! I tried to order those from lasar twice in the last 8 months. They keep telling me they’re working on it… as you said, simple part for sure! I finally had to install some rollers with a bushing from another ms member and that helped one seat a lot.
  10. Pre buy inspections are money well spent, no matter if you end up buying the aircraft, or walking away from it. Sure, you spent $5000 on it, but that likely saved you tens of thousands of dollars down the road had you actually gone through with the purchase. Money well spent as far as you should be concerned. Trying to recoup the cost of a failed pre buy online? Why would anyone go there? It’s clearly bad enough to warrant walking away, even with $5000 already invested. That screams that it’s really bad. Pretty much all that a potential buyer needs to know. The details are irrelevant at that point.
  11. I had a dream last night I got brought into KROA all goofy-angled by ATC and had to go around, and @donkaye, MCFI, you'll be happy to hear I retracted my gear before raising my flaps during that go-around. :)~ --Up.
  12. It’s probably your push to talk.
  13. There's an STC to goose the Ovation up from 280HP to 310HP (mine has it), but I've never heard of one to turbocharge it. Given the turbocharged Bravo/Acclaim models are basically identical to the Ovation save for the engine(s), I can't see the sense in it. --Up.
  14. The side baffle seals might be okay, but that aft one is horrible. You can see where a large section of it is folded backwards, and there’s a giant hole where there should be a duct attached. If you’re not using ducting there, plug it off. I bet by fixing those two things alone, you’ll drop your CHT’s by 50*. Didn’t you recently purchase this airplane? How did any of this make it past the pre buy inspection?
  15. Whoever did the engine install is responsible for those baffle seals unless somebody messed with it afterwards. That's awful. Also, when reinstalling the cowl the seals must be checked or proper positioning - every time. The (metal) baffles also wrap around the bottom of the cylinder and are held tight to the fins with springs. Check that those are intact and doing their job.
  16. I don't know about anyone else but I don't need things "packaged" for me. I abhor PR. Lasar, guys, if you're really listening, and you want to win people over, tell the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth. Give it to us straight, shows the numbers, show the plan and then lets see what you got.
  17. Odd thing happened last few flights. Startup, radios on nice and clear. During runup and go through flight controls check and when I pull the yoke all the way aft, the static starts. Almost sounds like squelch is off. Not there all the time, but intermittent and not enough to interfere with understanding transmissions. Have confirmed it's triggering when I pull the yoke back as the static is heard and I see the red intercom light come on. Thinking a loose wire that's being bumped by the yoke linkage behind the panel? Anyone experience this before? Radio 1 is GTN650xi, haven't isolated radio 1 from 2 yet.
  18. I have never heard of one.
  19. Acclaims are turbocharged, Ovations are not. I am not aware of an STC to change this, but it may exist (the market size is pretty small).
  20. Is there an STC to turbocharge Ovations?
  21. I share all of the same suspicions, and have had nearly all the same reactions to lasar’s rollout. i also sent an email with some of my impressions and perceptions. Another member here had done the same and set up a conference call with Brett and John to get a better explanation. In that conversation the idea was floated for a town hall of sorts. They seem to have genuine good intentions, and while this is in no way a solely altruistic venture for these guys, their success would mean a more stable future for the fleet. They are listening to our comments and grappling with how to package this in a way that accurately describes their needs and what they intend to provide. I would suggest anyone who genuinely wants to provide constructive input, to email them directly, and participate in the meeting if it comes about. Also, we aren’t talking the kinds of figures that brings in a marketing team and some huge structure. Even if the parts division was running like a Swiss clock, we aren’t talking about millions of dollars a year in profit. there is room in this deal for the owners to make money and for the fleet to get serviced fairly. Finding that sweet spot isn’t going to be free, and to think it would be cheaper to go bankrupt, and restart from scratch is fantasy. I don’t know if what they are attempting will work, but I heard enough to believe if they can fix this packaging problem and better define how contributors can benefit, it may actually work. They are still finding out the mess that Mooney was, and know what needs to be done, and are sorting it out. Mooney did not even have a database that they could query for inventory management. This was shocking to me, something so basic and critical for any manufacturing supplier, was left in the 70’s tech. They appear to be very close to converting that, which is a huge step. I am stopping short of advocating for this assurance plan, but there is potential to make it work, and am much more supportive than I was since talking to them.
  22. There is a nice acclaim sn 31-0127 for sale under 400 I have spent a lot of time in
  23. That was basically my first reponse as well. And they immediately moved to a tiered system, which seems a bit elitist when they're talking like they're trying to be a "community" effort. I don't think it's playing like they think it is or like they intended.
  24. Hendricks Engineering did my first M20E Pilot side. They did very nice work. Those panels looke great here. That lighter color is really tasteful Igor. Love it.

  26. I would have no problems to donate/subscribe yearly $1000-2000 if it was directly to Mooney. Now I'm financing a another company that would make profit from our donations/subscriptions.
