  1. Past hour
  2. The Mexican place at the top of the hill is pretty good.
  3. There’s a version from RAM that has also worked for some people. they did extend the AD, but you better read it carefully to make sure you meet the requirements for continued inspection.
  4. Today
  5. Flew in today. The ILS is down, so I had to fly the RNAV 5 circle to land 31. Broke out 900ish so it wasn’t too sketchy.
  6. Injector would have been my first guess, too
  7. Ditto about the same time by Wet Wingologist. Great job, on time, on estimate, I think all in was about 13K
  8. I can always mfg per sample and weld a insert bung extension so you can screw in a tube / suction after 14months Iam finishing the E225 complete breather tubes upper mid hump lower all 304
  9. The battery bag will contain the flames, but not the heat. It might be good to keep a wool blanket around as a fireproof insulator, just in case. The battery fire will generate a lot of somewhat toxic smoke too, so open all the vents and windows. Water will not put the fire out, but it will cool it off and slow the reaction. I have set quite a few Lion batteries on fire when I was developing a 100 battery charger for medical devices. Many on purpose, some were casualties of development.
  10. It probably failed because it wasn’t taped properly. Can’t imagine buying a new prop because of it. If you want the prop overhauled, have it overhauled, and let the shop decide if the blades are too far gone. They are probably OK.
  11. Yesterday
  12. I understand your analogy, with the exception that there is no greater emergency than a cabin fire. Since these batteries are portable the chances of them being dropped at some point in their life is a lot greater than zero. If the battery belongs to a passenger the danger goes up exponentially since they may not understand the potential for disaster and may not let you that they dropped it at the last stop. Their "need" to watch a movie on the flight might outweigh the need to confess.
  13. Going to go look again today, I might have missed it being changed over and just didn't check. I didn't find it in the logs, but that image sure looks like I'm wrong. It also makes me even less inclined to overhaul anytime soon. My records still indicate this is a GB engine, but maybe this has had more of the LB conversion than I thought.
  14. That's probably it. I bought my airplane with a new prop, new nosegear, and freshly IRAN'ed engine because it had been PIO'd into a nosegear collapse 40 hours earlier by the previous owner.
  15. Flew back today from a weekend beach trip and when washing the plane the missing piece fell to the ground when I turned the prop. My wife was helping wash and she heard it hit the ground and said “that didn’t sound good”. No doubt it wasn’t snug enough last time I had the dynamic balance done. We both enjoyed an OH CRAP moment together followed by a beer. I’ve had this plane since 2007 and basically done nothing to the prop or the governor but the blades have been dressed several times so I doubt they would pass. I’m thinking new McCauley C212 for $12,836 per their website.
  16. I had the tanks on my 1990 Bravo done by Edison at Wet Wingologist in Ft Lauderdale exec. three years ago and he did a great job. Cost was under $20K and that included extra work in the installation of new drains and removing and bucking new rivets. And he was on time. I've also heard very good things about Paul at Weep no More
  17. EGT by itself means very little. Variations among cylinders are common and no reason to worry if CHTs are within a reasonable proximity and the engine is running smoothly. Watch these two videos by Mike Busch from Savvy Aviation. They will shed a great deal of light for you.
  18. Hello Mooney People, After 16 hours with new cylinders , changed the oil and went back to AD oil. Switched the $4 EGT probe and will see if the #5 cylinder now runs hotter. All the CHT probes are nicely lined up and did not change any plugs....and will check! Alan
  19. That individual elected to start taxing with a battery that had been dropped and damaged prior to start up. I get that people may be ignorant of the risks involved in damaging a LiPO or Li-Ion battery, but this was not any more a battery problem than a powerplant failure that occurs after a prop strike/sudden stoppage that was never inspected. It might work out, but if it doesn't, it's often real bad.
  20. One thing to consider with the auto engines; their crankshafts may not be strong enough to handle the torsional stress of driving a propellor. Home builders found that out when they put Corvair engines in their planes.
  21. I used to have a suburban and we could fill the back of that thing with stuff and it would all fit in the Mooney.
  22. It does make 16 HP more than your IO-360. Not world changing.
  23. Me neither.
  24. shrug i never haul around more than 2 people anyway
  25. We've educated a ton of our Mooney Family this year! We do offer Mooney- specific checklist for our right seaters. These are the last two events of 2025. If you want to come join the fun this weekend in Florida, or October 24-25 in Cali, get signed up! Jolie
