Has Anyone found/made a 3d printable yoke mount for an ipad mini?
SilentT replied to Wapst's topic in General Mooney Talk
I am so asking for one for christmas when my J arrives. -
I would not know where to start on such a search. I'm not sure such even exists. Having said that, I would speculate that many of the ground up restorations were done without benefit of plans, or instructions.

You mean this? It has fans and a power pocket for voltage converter. - Today

Near as I can tell, fuel tank access panels are pn 210099-1. Same part number top and bottom access panels. Same part number in the mid-60s IPC, so there should be some available through the salvage yards, for sure.

Parts M20C, M20E, M20F, M20G, M20J AND M20K
Fly Boomer replied to Jerry Pressley's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
Hard to know how many new topics and posts there are each day, but whatever the number, most people cannot read them all. So if you want to get Jerry's attention, give him a ping like this @Jerry Pressley. He will get a notification. Other posts above also suggest sending him an SMS message. -
Not great but that's a story for another time. Still trying to get it home. Also in the headliner I saw those pics on first post. Did they show where the horns and speaker and two lights go? That's all I saw on the cannon plug was 2horns 2 lights and a speaker. Did I get that right?

Ragsf15e replied to Matthew P's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
All true, and it’s not good for ga, I agree. However, if nobody else can enter the market and charge a lower price, then they must be charging the “right” price. We can complain, but what is the solution? Price fixing won’t work either. If it gets high enough, someone will enter unless ga is dead by then. -
Hadn't crossed my mind, but that would indeed solve the problem. Any idea on the part numbers I'd need? I've got an old parts manual, but it's kinda useless
-
not sure why mechanics don't do this.... Do they think we don't notice?

We have had great luck with Jeff at Norcal Aviation located in Reid Hillview (krhv). We have a M20R. I know he does a number of other Mooney's at the airport as well. We've used them for 2 years and been really happy.

Hangtown Aviation in Placerville (PVF). Brandon is honest. He repaired fuselage tubes under the pilot’s window on a really nice J model. It was perfect. LIncoln Skyways (LHM) has worked on Mooney’s, but I’ve heard they can be pricey.

I'm based at Watsonville KWVI and fortunate to have United Flight Services there. Full service shop, owner/IA really knows Mooneys. Look them up and give them a call. You can mention my name. Ken Chambers

If Gami fuel is better for the engine, but harder on the tanks and paint, I think I'd wear that risk. Maybe use better paint around the filler area? It could be a feature, especially not an issue on high wings. If the cost of continuing to fly our planes is new fuel lines, maybe a tank reseal and some industrial paint around the filler, well, then so be it. Better than the alternative.

The shop at my airport (KDVO) stopped doing Mooney Annuals 2 years ago and I've been trying to find a new shop to work with me. Wanted Top Gun to do it but they are really a one person shop now and are booked. Had a bad experience with another shop near Sacramento and will never go back. Tried Alpine Aviation at KGOO but they are swamped for three months. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance. -Jonathan B

I was thinking the same thing, an idling engine is better than no engine for sure. It is probably a good idea to google map any airport you are taking off from to see where a good emergency landing area might be from the upwind take off runway.

I don't think Swift will struggle with 100R in IO360-A3B6? we will know soon for sure. I recall at Oshkosh this year, they mentioned 1000 engines being tested for 100R. However, they admitted challenges for Conti 550 and Lyco 540, for these engine, G100UL is probably the only choice for now... Recently, Lycoming has proved that TIO540-J can run on 96 MON octane with adjusted pressure-timing, so even Swift 100R fuel can get their way into these, here is the fun part, these engine may need to use GAMI PRISM or TCM PowerLink, these need to be certified, things could be heading that way as well, if the price of these magnetos is right...

Oscar Avalle started following Field Approval for B&C Specialty Technology back up alternator
-
Because I went full electrial (electronic magnetos and instruments) I never felt confortable not having a second alternator in my M20C (E). So I came through B&C back up alternators. They had been approved for PA32 and for Bonanzas. https://bandc.com/product-category/alternators/certified-alternators/standby-alternators/ I decided to look at the unit and with my IA and AP we did the installation and got the field approval for the system. The unit work flawlessly and it lowers my anxiety... the stand by battery never provided me with the necessary state of mind. Oscar

I think it could be quite a concern with this fuel, however. From what I've read about it thus far, its MON is lower than 100LL and G100UL (neither of which are actually 100 in reality, but higher), which would significantly reduce detonation margins in my engine (IO-360-A3B6) for example. Whereas previously detonation might only occur >25" MAP and at certain temperatures, it is very easy to imagine it occurring at previously-conservative values.

1980Mooney replied to Matthew P's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Except our market is so small and probably most importantly our market is not growing - it is stagnant at best and probably shrinking. So no-one does enter. And the PE firms keep consolidating those still standing. PE is doing the same to the FBO's. -

Ragsf15e replied to Matthew P's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Possibly, however if another company/person can fill the parts with an stc or pma and make money at a lower price, then they will. Or at least that’s the assumption our markets are based on.
