For those inclined to use a tail weight for gear swings, how much weight is sufficient for a short- or mid-body Mooney?    I've seen 160-250 lbs mentioned.    I'm in the process of planning putting one together and am trying to sort out how much is enough.   Right now I'm shooting for 200 lbs, but less would obviously make it easier.

I'd not have thought that keeping all those old brake rotors and flywheels around would pay off...  ;)

160# is plenty for a mid-body model

How high is the M20C tail tie-down ring? I’m going to weld one up, and would rather do it at home before my next hour-long commute to the airport.

It will be adjustable with a pin, of course, but I want to be sure to not make it too tall.

Put the receiver in the bucket. Make the extension with several holes and take your hacksaw to.the hangar--cut to fit! I don't recall my old IT'S right being more than 6-8" out of the washtub-on-wheeks full of concrete.
