Flymu2 Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 My time has come. Does anyone know about the difference in process between Weepnomore (Minnesota) and Wetwingologists (Fla)? Same distance from me (NY) for both, but Fla is easier to get to and back. Quote
Hank Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 Weep No More [Paul] uses a sprayer inside the tank and recirculates chemical stripper. Wet Wingologists [Edison] does mostly hand-scraping with solvent application by hand when necessary. Both processes have risks; neither is one I want to do myself. I am a happy Wet Wings customer; others here are happy No Weep customers. Quote
FAST FLIGHT OPTIONS LLC Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 For what's it's worth i live in FL and if/when the time comes for a reseal Im going with the Weep No More process. I like what I have seen and heard and would be willing to fly whatever the distance is to have it done right. Quote

KSMooniac Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 I'm happy with Weep No More. No experience with the other options. Quote
Flymu2 Posted July 2, 2013 Author Report Posted July 2, 2013 I'm happy with Weep No More. No experience with the other options. When did you have yours done? How long did it take? Price? Thanks. Quote
KSMooniac Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 2008, when Paul still worked under the Wilmar shop. He is on his own now, but I think the price is still the same or nearly so... around $7200-$7500 for both tanks IIRC and about 3 weeks of work. I also had him add the mechanical wing gauges at the time since the access panels were already off, so that was extra. If you have some faulty fuel senders then they'll recommend replacing them at the same time, so that is another potential expense. This was for my M20J... the M20R/S might have more tank area and a higher price but I don't know. Just call Paul and ask! Quote
carusoam Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 Expect the R to have 100 gallons, nominal... The S with a modified fill neck will be very similar ... Best regards, -a- Quote
Steve Dawson Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 Here's a letter from Paul when I asked for the cost for long range tanks as well as sealing the current tanks. The price was from last year so I'd phone Paul to get an up date. My hangar neighbour just spent 20 hours scraping off only the upper part of his left tank. He did a great job but it still took him 20 hours. I think I'd still use Pail because of his reputation and his new psuedo non evasive method stripping method. Hello Steve! Thanks so much for the inquiry! The cost for the LR kit and to install would be $6500, and to strip and reseal the mains is $7500. I realize it seems like alot, but they will be trouble free for many, many years to come,,,barring a terriable landing or two!! Thats just a joke! The long range is a great option for the J model. You can fly for a LONG time! I hope this helps for now. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask away! Thanks again Steve. Paul BeckWeep No More, LLCwww.weepnomorellc.com320-295-1671 Quote

He quoted me $11K and about 3 weeks. The Fla guy quoted $10.8K for MAPA members until the end of July, then 12K. I'll ask about the fuel senders. Mine are not accurate. Quote
gjkirsch Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Are you sure you need a complete reseal? The oldest S can't be much older than 10 years. I have had some minor repair work done in the past but would really expect 20 years from the factory original. Am I being unrealistic? Quote
Cris Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Paul will, also travel to you depending on his schedule and the job requirements. Give him a call to discuss Quote
Flymu2 Posted July 5, 2013 Author Report Posted July 5, 2013 Are you sure you need a complete reseal? The oldest S can't be much older than 10 years. I have had some minor repair work done in the past but would really expect 20 years from the factory original. Am I being unrealistic? My plane is year 2000. It sat 2-3 years in the sun in Fla before I bought it. There was a significant leak on the left which Paul Beck fixed before my purchase. The left isn't leaking now. There is some brown stuff around the panels on the bottom of the right wing and some blue streaking that seems worse after I fly through turbulence. I'm thinking about a complete reseal because I'm thinking of painting the plane and wouldn't want to do paint with known fuel leak problems. Quote
Flymu2 Posted July 5, 2013 Author Report Posted July 5, 2013 Paul will, also travel to you depending on his schedule and the job requirements. Give him a call to discuss Paul said he would only do a complete reseal in MN. I don't know how long the repair on the left wing will last. If I could talk him into coming to me to fix the right wing I would worry that I would end up needing a reseal anyway and the money for the repair would be wasted. Decsions decisions! Quote
Cris Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Dennis I had Air Mods in Trenton NJ repair my leaks two years ago and then did a partial repaint with Reece Brothers on the same field. No problems since. I think if the price were the same I'd have Paul do it. At the time I did not know he would travel. On the other hand if you are going to repaint the plane it is kind of a one stop shop. Quote
