I would be glad to share my checklist with your or anyone else who wants it. However, my belief is that one should never want another's check list, except as a guide to build your own. Everyone else's checklist is either too inclusive, and takes forever to even read. Or it is much to brief and skips stuff you really need.

It took me a year or so to generate mine, as I started with one and kept making changes. By about the 5th iteration, it got close enough that I probably only make changes to it once a year or so now.

Mine is 4 "pages", about 10 inches by 3 1/2 inches, laminated and taped together so you can flip to the section you need easily (preflight, engine start, taxi, run-up, etc.)

If you have an interest in either the content, the format or the mechanics of mine, let me know.

It sounds like the perfect size to laminate.  i.e. 10x3.5  I do very much appreciate what you say.  I too have always found that the preprinted checklists leave out some things I consider very import.  For instance, I ALWAYS pull my prop through all cylinders and open my engine for a good preflight.  But, now that I have bought my first Mooney (M20B), I am learning that opening the engine up each time is not an option.  All that being said, I would appreciate you pm ing me copies of your 4 pages if you would be so kind to share.  Thanks.

Rocky,

Quick question for you...

Your info indicates you have a C. But you are asking about a B, I think.

Which is it that you own???

Both are good.

Best regards,

After Don Maxwell checked out the C, I didn't buy it.  I have purchased a B now.

Here is a flight checklist I found several years ago on the web it was initially for a C172 and I modified it to use in my E model and later my F model. It is long and not suited to laminations. It is formatted to print 8.5”x5.5” and you fold the sheets to make a nice sized package. I have a 8x5.5 ring binder with plastic sleeves I keep this in and use it in the plane. Whoever can use it have at it and if you come across some glaring error flag it and let us know. I can make mistakes too.Checklist M20.doc

I made my own checklist by going through the Owner's Manual, abbreviating and rearranging to suit myself. It's done in Word, formatted to Landscape and I searched the pitiful help sections for printing in pamphlet mode. It folds in half nicely, and is exactly the right size to clip onto my Sporty's kneeboard. Ran each page through a cold laminator so they would still fold, and ran a quick pamphlet stitch down the seam.

This gave me lots of extra space in the booklet, so I used a cover sheet, added the portion of the Performance Tables that I'm interested in, and put in as many of the standard speeds, etc., as I could track down. There's a few still missing, and obviously Va decreases with weight.

Now if I could only find a decent Emergency section, the two pages in my OM are pitiful . . . My favorite is "In case of engine fire, close cabin vent" with no mention of shutting off fuel, diving to blow out the flames or pitching for best glide, Master off and prepare for an immediate landing.

Let's see if a Word document will attach now. Success! A quick read through shows some additions from Bob Kromer's articles that do not reflect how I fly and need to be changed. [My cowl flaps don't move; I retard the throttle enough to get out of the automatic fuel enrichment circuit in the carb; I don't slow the prop on initial climb; etc.]

Working through your Owner's Manual and typing everything in it is a very good review of your checklists and procedures, especially if you read all of the blocks of text for additional information as you type. Then just revise away to suit yourself! And don't leave out nothing important . . . . .

Note that this is for my '70 C with electric gear and electric flaps, and has not been revised to show the Avionics Master Switch instead of turning each individual radio on and off. Tweak, adjust, revise, it just never ends.
