carusoam Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 My girl was born on January 7. She filled her first Ziploc on her first visit to see her grandma over that Easter weekend. Grandma was duely impressed with that visit. The girl has much better aim now! The F has cavernous back seats for Momma and the baby! From the real life with a Mooney files... Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

We thought they were going to share a birthday, but the boy held out a few hours for his own birthday! 1 Quote
Seth Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) This debate if J vs K is why I ended up with what I did. The Missile conversion. I'm based on the east coast but wanted more than 150-155 knots in my upgrade from an M20F - a fast one at 148 knots. I had a prebuy done on a runout 252 and ended up purchasing the Missile which is kind of a baby ovation. It's modified, costs less than an ovation, is 200 lbs lighter and climbs better. Top speed touches 190knots but you burn up the engine. I plan for 180 TAS all day, 175 at much better mpg. This all in the 6000-10000 range so no O2 is required but if I'm up at 10,000 I usually use portable O2. I have had it as high as 17,000 and pop up high from time to time on eastbound trips home with O2 to get low fuel burn and tailwinds. Useful load is 1065 pounds and I have 98 gallons of fuel with the extended tanks for distance or tanking inexpensive fuel when needed. The Missile wants to climb during takeoff and I feel comfortable operating out of 2000 foot fields in many conditions. I'm bases at a 4200 foot runway. Less than 50 Missiles were converted but they will take care of your requirements except possibly the fuel burn per hour - but you'll get there faster! The 550 NM trip will be right at three hours. You can pick up a Missile for 115-135 these days depending on condition (much less with a runout engine - I bought one and immediately overhauled the engine as it was determined to be making metal during the prebuy - hence the large drop in negotiated price). The Missile is more than both the J and K. A modded F may have similar to J speeds with higher useful loads at an even lower cost, though an older airframe. -Seth Edited February 12, 2016 by Seth Quote
