moodychief Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 I am looking at making a quick holiday trip with my family to see a little Christmas spirit. I am looking for destination ideas within a 3 hour flight of the Little Rock area. Right now I am considering New Orleans or San Antonio but am wondering if there are any hidden treasures out there I should consider? Quote
aerobat95 Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Are you allowed to say Christmas anymore?? LOL....I was thinking about taking my family up at night to see the Christmas lights this weekend. Good luck in your search....regardless you will be flying and that is always fun :0) 1 Quote
sreid Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 Downtown Kansas City, the country club plaza lights just southeast of MKC, just outsdie of the D airspace. It's a big downtown area covered with approximately 5 billion lights. It's famous with the local pilots. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 I really had a fun time in Nashville several weekends ago. Also like your San Antonio idea. I'm not a fan of New Orleans... You're also not too terribly far from some warm Florida weather. Quote
moodychief Posted December 21, 2012 Author Report Posted December 21, 2012 Parker, Does Nashville have a lot of decorations? We are looking for somewhere we can walk and enjoy lights and possible holiday (there I said it!) festivities. Quote
schule Posted December 21, 2012 Report Posted December 21, 2012 Second on Country Club Plaza in KC. Easy trip from the downtown airport (KMKC), and includes all manor of shopping and dining options to backdrop the Christmas lights. Picking your arrival or departure times would also allow viewing from the air. Should be right at a 3 hour trip. -Mark Quote
