So if you're VFR anyway, why wouldn't someone just go with their ForeFlight (G Pilot, etc.) with a current DB? Quote

Before you rain on his post, you might check first to see if databases are still available for the Garmin GX Series, which they are. It may not hold the entire U.S. on one card but it is still available on two cards. https://ww2.jeppesen.com/navigation-solutions/avionics-solutions/garmin/ Also even in enroute VFR it’s a little hard for your autopilot to follow a Nav signal from your iPad, but your autopilot can easily track a signal from the Garmin GX. iPads are a nice tool but not to be compared with an instrument that’s interfaced in the panel. @Aerodon best wishes with the sale - this is a great solution for someone who already has one installed and needs a replacement. 1 Quote
Aerodon Posted August 10 Author Report Posted August 10 Not offended by the comments at all. Someone will need one when the screen fails. The GX60's are still nice comms, and even with an out of date database the G50/60/65 GPS can interface with a JPI, MX20, Sandel etc. Aerodon 1 Quote

Discontinued in 2020. Jeppesen stopped theirs in 2019. And I'm assuming the AP is set up to follow the VORs or Heading mode. So you could still monitor the magenta line just fine.
