Clearview Posted June 12, 2024 Report Posted June 12, 2024 Our hold open arm assembly cracked off our M20J last week. I searched for the newest thread on this topic and it is back in 2018 with links that don't work. Lasar says 6 weeks for them to get one on special order. Kenny Faeth doesn't have a used one in stock. Any other cheaper/faster alternatives available?
PT20J Posted June 12, 2024 Report Posted June 12, 2024 I think a lot of people have had them weld repaired. 1

Just watch your head while accessing the baggage area, while waiting for repair or replacement. -dan

I’d take it off, make sure your IA approves, and then take it to a local welder.
Clearview Posted September 2, 2024 Author Report Posted September 2, 2024 Local welder was able to fix it. IA signed it off:) 3
exM20K Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 dumb question: how do you get the arm off, especially where attached to the door frame? -dan
Marc_B Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 @exM20K Check out your IPC something like 52-30-00. I believe both are clevis pins with washers and a cotter pins. You have to take off the interior panel cover on the door and it’s obvious. I haven’t taken off the frame side before, but I believe it’s similar.
Mufflerbearing Posted February 1 Report Posted February 1 There is another thread where gas struts replace the metal sleeve stock unit. This looks like a good option. Or I could sell you mine when I replace it with the gas strut I ordered. The detent isn't as strong as I'd like to hold the door open.
