My wife and I are looking for good e-scooters to get around on when we take the plane places. Ideally 20 miles of range and lightweight. I'd like to fit two in the baggage compartment of a M20K.

Any suggestions?

Hi @oisiaa

I've also been on the hunt for some flyable transportation, especially something that doesn't make me pedal. A couple years ago my wife and I bought a pair of ebikes and absolutely love them. Zero regrets. What was that animated film (I remember.. it was WALL-e) with all the overweight people on the spaceship? I'm starting to feel like that, although I'm not overweight - yet.

Here's what I found. Best part is, you can lease it for $70 a month. If you click the link in the review you get a $60 off coupon. I'm traveling next month with my J and don't want to uber around for a week. The lease is a good opportunity to try it out without throwing down some cash. This model didn't show up in any of my previous searches because I was looking for scooters less than $700. I had also looked at the Gotrax line, seemed like good scooters but they were a little long - 40" iirc.

EDIT: There is a $300 setup and delivery fee for the Unagi that also includes return postage when you ship it back.

The foldables in the last photo in the reply are 37" folded and @A64Pilot said they just barely fit. The Unagi's are 35". Another plus is the weight, they are only 30lbs.

I have 2 scooters I put in the back of my short body.  They are our primary transportation at many airports.  Voro motors E cruisers.  Top speed is 30 MPH and range is close to 60 miles.  50 lbs per scooter.  They should fit much better in a long body.  After 2 years of use I've been very happy with them.

Just saw this Youtube video of a really compact scooter. Kind of pricy, but really compact.

15-20km and 25kph isn't great, but definitely useable.

I bought an ET-Wow/U-scooter GT SE.  Goes about 23-25 mph max, but the wide open throttle decreases the advertised range of 27 miles.  "Relatively" light weight at 29 lbs, but any of the electric bike or scooter options are kinda heavy for what they are...batteries are heavy.  So for max range and light weight I think a folding self powered bike is probably the best.

I think I got the one I have on sale and it came with a handle grip for carrying it when it's collapsed.  Super easy to collapse and stick in the back of the Mooney.

PS (edit): I think the Jupiter bikes also get good reviews and I have a buddy who was looking at those for his Mooney.

I have a One Wheel GT. It fits nicely in the Mooney. It takes up about as much space as one carry on bag.

It goes a long way on a charge. The longest trip I have done on it was 18 miles.

There is a learning curve to ride it and there is blood involved.

My wife and I have a couple of Segway Ninebot scooters (with the extended battery). Each will run a good 19 mph and is good for at least 15mi of range (book says 19 but we have yet to achieve that). They are light, about 33 lbs/ea. The rear seat in my '81 K does not fold so we just slide them up on the handlebar (folded, of course) and the front wheels fits nicely in the left-side scalloped ceiling. These Ninebot scooters both fit with lots of room for bags, plane supplies and tools.

We would live a nice set of folding e-bikes but have yet to find a pair that will fit in the baggage compartment.

Two URB-E scooters fit in the baggage, just under 30 lbs, 15 MPH supposedly 30 miles range. I’ve never come close to that, no way I’d ride the thing for 2 hours.

Sit down scooter Made in California high quality 6061-T6 aluminum and sadly I think out of production, but maybe could find one on Ebay.

The basket slips on and off and I don’t think it would fit with it on.

Only problem is, they seem to be no longer available

That’s why I said maybe Ebay, compared to most of the Chinese scooters that dominate the market now they were expensive and I’m sure that’s why they went out of production, no way a US manufacturer can compete. But I think due to quality of manufacture and small size and even lighter weight than most even with the seat it’s worth trying to find one.

Many of us older pilots due to knees, back etc are buying scooters, here is a pic of the breakfast group.

I don’t know how to attach the link, but here is a newer model, but Fl only.

Type whatever preparatory information you want to include, then open the page you want to link to. Right-click in the address bar, select "Copy". Come back to Mooneyspace, click in the box, right-click and select "Paste." It will paste in the address, then convert it to a thumbnail. Type any information you want to add after the link, then hit "Submit Reply" and you're done.

You know I knew that, just forgot

Issue is I’m on an Ipad looking at the Ebay App and there isn’t an address bar, expected some kind of link, or share button like You tube has in their App.

It is a big scooter but it has decent range and it carry’s me and my wife around on it together. So in that regard one bigger scooter is better then trying to fit in 2 scooters…
