M20F Posted August 6, 2023 Report Posted August 6, 2023 What size is the nut on a Tempest filter? I can’t find the right impact socket for my air gun to tighten mine up. Quote
Utah20Gflyer Posted August 6, 2023 Report Posted August 6, 2023 My plane doesn’t have enough room to use an air driven impact so I use a 6 foot breaker bar to make sure the engine filter can’t be removed by a normal mortal using normal tools. 4 Quote
SKI Posted August 6, 2023 Report Posted August 6, 2023 I just tighten mine up till I see the filter housing start to deform. I've never had one come loose yet. 3 Quote
cliffy Posted August 6, 2023 Report Posted August 6, 2023 Make it tight enough and you don't need safety wire Also two gaskets are better than one 4 Quote

MikeOH Posted August 6, 2023 Report Posted August 6, 2023 Another tip: hand tight, then 3 or 4 spot welds and you don't even need a wrench 1 2 Quote
