outermarker Posted April 29, 2023 Report Posted April 29, 2023 A few years ago I had a rebuilt exhaust from Dawley installed. Like most of us the rubber strap was is poor shape that attached from the exhaust to the fuselage. My IA told me to order a sheet of the product in the attachment. So, after a few years of use I don’t see any signs of wear and feel comfortable sharing. I hope this helps. 1 Quote
Hank Posted April 29, 2023 Report Posted April 29, 2023 My strap was cut from the sidewall of an old nose tire . . . . I think it was done in 2016? Just finished annual last week, nothing was mentioned about it. 2 Quote

No, I had an IA who had retired from being an Army Aviation mechanic, then retired from Civil Service as an Army Aviation Mechanic, and became a traveling independent Aviation mechanic. We replaced my nose tire, and cut the new strap from the tire we had just taken off. Now he's retired again, so no more 3-day annuals in my hangar . . . . 1 Quote
EricJ Posted May 6, 2023 Report Posted May 6, 2023 Most in the field seem to be made from old tires or similar. Quote
