Martin S. Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Can somebody tell me from the fotos whether these aileron control links are the re-inforced ones? Many thanks, Martin Quote
Guest Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Those look like originals. The updated version have a steel boomerang piece welded down the centre of the tubes at the 90* joint. Quote
mike_elliott Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Yes, and no, they are original. The gusset has not been welded on these Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Back in the day, like 30 years ago, I sent mine to LASAR and they welded the gussets in. They turned them in like 3 days for a couple hundred bucks. But that was then. I wonder how much it is now? Quote
MisfitSELF Posted March 1, 2023 Report Posted March 1, 2023 Agreed, they look like the original control links to me. Quote
Martin S. Posted March 1, 2023 Author Report Posted March 1, 2023 Thanks guys, will have to have it re-enforced then. Quote
VWGuy Posted March 13, 2023 Report Posted March 13, 2023 These are original. Call Wentworth for upgrade parts with gusset weld that eliminates the AD compliance inspections. MODEL'S M20B, M20C, M20D, M20E, M20F, M20G, M20J, M20K: AILERON CONTROL, LH 730005-1 AILERON CONTROL, RH 730006-000 Probably $150 to $250 each depending on used condition If order new from LASAR was told 6-8 weeks to have made(if you are lucky)-probably $600-$800 for both. Not an easy replacement-takes several hours and aircraft on jacks as gear mechanism needs adjusting to make space for removal. Its a Mooney-remove or move several parts to fix or replace one part. Martin S. Posted March 13, 2023 Author Report Posted March 13, 2023 (edited) Can a control link that was freshly modified by LASAR be implanted in any airframe (on condition that the part number is the right for the AC serial number) or only in its donor airframe. Wondering cuz I might get unmodified ones and have them reinforced, and swap them for the (non-reinforced) ones in my airframe (to reduce down-time). Thanks, Martin Edited March 13, 2023 by Martin S. Thanks, Martin Back in the day when this first came out, LASAR had modified links in stock. They would ship you modified links immediately. With a core charge. They would refund the core charge when they received your links. I would call them. It has been so long I assume the demand is way down these days. Quote
