rocketman Posted February 15, 2023 Report Posted February 15, 2023 I took the plunge and completely redoing and upgrading my 1993 Bravo instrument panel with all glass Garmin panel.. I am in need of replacing the existing panel that have a lot of circular openings to a new panel better suited for glass. Does anyone know where I can get the template to make the Bravo panel (DXL file)? Or is there any existing left and right blank panels available? 1 Quote
slowflyin Posted February 15, 2023 Report Posted February 15, 2023 Two years ago, I bought a blank panel from either LASAR or Mooney. I'm pretty sure it was Mooney. It was very reasonably priced and had the beveled cutouts for the rudder trim and clock and all the switches. It just didn't have any of the six pack holes. We did have to cover the RMP and MP cut outs. I'll see if I can find the receipt. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted February 15, 2023 Report Posted February 15, 2023 Any competent avionics shop should be able to handle this. You should be able to just sketch what you want and they can do the rest. 1 Quote

Aerodon Posted February 16, 2023 Report Posted February 16, 2023 I can make a panel for you according to your instructions @rocketman. I have a 'tall format' panel to use as my initial template and a library of all the possible instrument shapes you could want to install. And I have access to a press brake to do the 1/2" radius at the bottom, Nextel 'Suade' panel paints and a large flatbed UV printer for the labels. It can be a bit of an iterative process - Mooney used flexible rubber shock mounts that tolerated a fair amount of misalignment. Modern instruments require a solidly mounted panel which is easily achieved with screws and spacers, but the positions on your plane might not be very accurate. Adjustments of 1/4 to 1/2 hole diameter are not unusual. So I would probably send a template for fitting and feedback before going to final. Aerodon supercub180@gmail.com 5 Quote
zehutiman Posted June 21, 2023 Report Posted June 21, 2023 Is an all-wood panel allowed in a Part 23 airplane? Quote
