Maxx Posted April 15, 2022 Report Posted April 15, 2022 Hi guys, I'm new to posting, but have been following along for a few months. Thanks for all the helpful topics in this forum. Based on your experience and wallet, can you please advise if I should get this electric fuel boost pump (leaking from the shaft seal) overhauled ($950 + parts+shipping) at CJ Aviation (any cheaper options?) or get an OTC remanufactured one from them for $1150? My maintenance shop quoted $1650 for the part. Everything is so expensive now. Would really appreciate your guidance. Thanks guys! Quote
lotsofgadgets Posted April 15, 2022 Report Posted April 15, 2022 Aeromotors in Wisconsin will overhaul your pump for $500. I sent them my old Weldon for overhaul and it was back in a week. Plan on sending a check and return shipping label, they don't do credit cards or arrange shipping. But, the turnaround was quick and the cost one quarter of what I was quoted for a new pump. 3 Quote
gdwinc Posted April 15, 2022 Report Posted April 15, 2022 I too suggest Aeromotors. They have done two pumps for me in the last month and both were turned around quickly. It's kind of a unique process, you ship the pump to them with a check and return shipping label enclosed, they perform the overhaul, and use the shipping label you sent them to send it back. The pump arrives back on your doorstep with not a word of communication. 1 1 Quote
Maxx Posted April 15, 2022 Author Report Posted April 15, 2022 Wow, thank you guys for the quick response! Absolutely spot on, Aeromotors LLC (Andy) quoted $500 and to send a check and return shipping label. Much appreciated! Quote

Expand I just tried to do this for Aero motors is keeping them for six weeks before sending them back, so if you can do with an airplane for two months go ahead, but CJ had one in stock that I could swap out in exchange for 850+ $50 core. If you can find a way to exchange it for the proper Weldon fuel pump it will be the last puppy by because they pretty much last forever but the Dukes is a pretty crappy design. 1 Quote
Maxx Posted April 15, 2022 Author Report Posted April 15, 2022 Certainly will Carusoam, much appreciate the welcome, I feel at home here. 1 Quote
Maxx Posted April 15, 2022 Author Report Posted April 15, 2022 Byron, thanks for the heads up! When I spoke to Andy at Aeromotors, he said 2-3 weeks initially, but when asked about expediting, he said as long as I sent a prepaid shipping sticker, they could turn it around and ship it back in a week or so. Hopefully they come thru' although I'm not in a rush. For a $500 price, I'm willing to wait a little. I'll keep you guys posted on this thread. Thanks for all the help!! Quote

jetdriven Posted April 16, 2022 Report Posted April 16, 2022 I heard that. Just the turn time is unacceptable. And that strange shipping issue they have. Maybe it’s changed for the better on the past 7 weeks. I’d call and ask first. Quote

Their rebuild made the pump so much better, I’d consider waiting for it. Quote
gdwinc Posted April 17, 2022 Report Posted April 17, 2022 I have very recent Aeromotors experience with great turnaround time. Priority USPS shipping on Friday 4/1 and received it back in my hands on Monday 4/11. Just over a week including shipping! One difference is that my Ovation uses a Weldon pump so if there are supply chain issues with Dukes parts that could lead to a different experience than mine. Quote
