Mcstealth Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 Thank you in advance, Another rookie question. How can you tell if a 430 is Waas or not? Is there an easy way? David Quote
toto Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 If I remember correctly, the non-WAAS unit uses an 8mb data card, but the WAAS unit uses 16mb. You might just be able to pop out the card to see. 1 Quote
toto Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 Btw - if it was sold from the factory as WAAS, it will say "430W" right on the face of the unit. The units that were upgraded are the ones that you can't tell at a glance. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 When setting up the flight plan…. If you can’t find any WAAS based approaches… This might be a sign it is non-W…. We can always ask @Alan Fox he can sense the W and non-W as he approaches them… PP logic only, I don’t have a Garmin navigator yet… Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
pkellercfii Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 The only certain way to tell a 430 from a 430W is from the splash screen that is displayed on startup. —Paul Keller 4 Quote

LANCECASPER Posted March 4, 2022 Report Posted March 4, 2022 Blurry picture, but this is what the splash screen should look like on a WAAS. 1 1 Quote
