Difference on TKS between J models and after

I am a TKS neophyte.  Can anyone tell me why on the J's and before the TKS is not FIKI but it can be on the K's +?  etc? whats the difference in the system?

I got this reply from one of the companies that do the TKS retrofit:

 

The material differences between the FIKI and inadvertent systems are redundancies in critical system components (an additional main pump, windshield pump, solenoid, relay) and a heated stall vane assembly. Otherwise the systems provide the same actual protection and endurance.

FIKI also requires dual alternators.
