Hi, I’m eventually looking to install a G3X in the future and was wondering if it would be able to receive engine data from my JPI 830?

I don’t want to remove the JPI, just want the additional data displayed on the G3X. I personally like having the standalone JPI.

Nope.

The JPI830 is supplementary information to your factory gauges and is not certified information. Any information on the G3X would have to be official and replace your factory gauges.

If you're going to do a G3X in the future it would be wise to either (1) go with the EIS on the G3X or (2) upgrade your JPI830 to a JPI900 or 930 and get rid of the factory gauges

And if you do upgrade the jpi, it will be primary but still won’t display on the G3x.

Being an owner of a JPI EDM 830, and a G3X, I’ll have to say it s a sold NO to any integration.  I even offered up the 900 series and it was a solid no. Garmin EIS is it if ya want it all on the G3X.  Personally, I’m more of a fan of keeping them separate. I did a lot of button pushing at OSH this year and preferred the JPI for engine data.

I would appreciate if they could share a few tidbits of info though… say temperature.  It’s on the JPI but Garmin needs its own temp probe?  No temp, no TAS or winds.  There is some data sharing that happens, but it’s unclear exactly what/how?

Great feed back guys, thanks! I figured as much with the 830 not being primary. I though they might be able to share some data and I would still have to keep my old primary guages of course. Oh well, I’m not getting the G3X for the EIS function anyway.

Weird.   My IFD gets temp data, and some other things, like fuel info, from my JPI for the air data (TAS) and fuel/trip computations.   Can the G3X take data from an IFD?

I might have exaggerated, but maybe not… my edm-930 temp is relayed to my gns430, but not past that.

The G3X has to have all of that installed but your Avidyne IFD should be able to get it from the G3X.
