I'd like to keep the discussion about the prop only please. One blade has a bend. See attached picture. Should I buy a new prop, refurbished prop, or have this one fixed? What company should I ask for help?

It's a Mccauley 2 blade on a M20K 252. I believe the model is C216

From the type certificate, you can not reduce the blade length, or prop diameter.

Or just even it out by taking sheet metal pliers to the other blade. Kick it old school with the Q-tip design. 
 

Being serious best option would be to buy one new blade and iran or overhaul the prop. Not many people upgrade from that prop, new might be your only option.

That should be the -16 McCauley blade.

However, that blade isn’t looking good without Reduction in diameter.

I know where a set of those blades are at Overhauled with no Mooney to call home.

The same blade set is used in the McCauley propeller on a J model which is allowed to be shortened, so your blade may have some remaining value.

As long as it can be saved at 73” for a J, it should have some value.

Is this the 231 that you found that needed an engine and a prop project?

Yes, I will probably go with Western Skyways for the engine. I just don't know who to go with for the prop.

Give this a second look...

MSer’s prop guy...

Known to have and share all the details required for good prop decisions...

Owns an M20K Rocket...

 

When it comes to mangled pieces of prop... I went with something completely different...

I couldn’t tell where the damage ended, and the good prop began...  and if a metallurgist would be needed... :)

 

MS has a metallurgist...  :)

There are such great forces on the prop... and the slightest imbalance can have disastrous results...  as in losing parts of the prop can be really bad.

Make sure you get the right shape for the airfoil... the whole length of the blades...

People dynamically balance their props for the near perfect balance...

They dress out any bumps and nicks for near perfect strength...

See if there is a  way to let these blades go...  to somebody with much shorter blade requirements...

Pp thoughts only, not a mechanic...

If shipping weren’t an issue I’d sent to Cody in a heartbeat.  He’s such a an honest valuable resource here on Mooneyspace and knows Mooney’s.
