With alll the snow dumped on my airport and no why to taxi or fly, I started looking at photos I took while the plane was having so maintenance done.  One of the photos caught my eye and noticed that none of the cylinder bolts have lockwire on them...  Seems like something that should be lockwired, no?IMG_20200909_180026.thumb.jpg.d6a3970b3d29ffe36487edf3e4252f87.jpg

Safety wire on the internal hex nuts is not required. Those fasteners are unique to the Lycoming narrow deck engines. The later version wide deck engines use standard nuts and are also not safety wired.

Good question, though.

Interesting photo though, my O-360 has torque marker on each of those.  Don't see it in the photo.  I guess it is not required.

The engine was last overhauled in 98, with a top in 2014.  I'm betting any torque seal that was there blew away...

Makes sense.

Thanks.

Any idea where I can read about that?  Would that be somewhere in the Lycoming IO360 owners manual?

I would add torque paint to them for my own peace of mind.

Agreed.  My annual is in 2 weeks and plan on taking care of this.

Look in the Lycoming overhaul manual. The latest version is dated 1976, but there are a zillion service instructions and service bulletins that expand on the manual.
