Bendix King KSN 770

My flying club at KCLW is a proud new owner of an M20F executive. We took delivery on Saturday. We have the Bendix King KSN 770 installed. Does anyone have this installed?  Is there any way to get our hands on the simulator software?  Looks like the parent company removed it from their website.

Did you search around here for anything related to the KSN770?

How did your plane acquire one of the few that were ever in the wild?

Expect that a device needs to be finished, before a trading device gets created for it...
 

I don’t know if the KSN ever got started, enough to reach the next phase...

You're the ones who installed the KNS (King Navigation System) 770. I knew they sold at least one. j/k   

I doubt that you're going to get the simulator from them (maybe an owner has the file), but at least Bendix King left the YouTube training videos up for the KNS 770.

I did an instrument training with a person who had the KSN 770 in his plane.  He did so well on his Checkride that on the debrief the Examiner asked him if he was going to be a Professional Pilot and that he didn't have anything to Critique about him.  He was perfect.  I went over all the BK videos so that I had a handle on the unit before the training, but I didn't have much to say because Sam knew the unit so well.  By the end of the training I thought the 770 was a very good GPS.  Too bad BK didn't take it farther.

I've watched all available YT videos.  It certainly seems to be a capable box.  Looking forward to playing around with it. Thanks for the email @donkaye.  I'll be sure to reach out to him.  I am planning on finishing up my instrument training in the plane so any advice would be appreciated.

I almost went the KSN 770 route but when Bendix King sent out  email with the  list of no longer supported equipment I kind of shied away from it.

The other thing I  really like about it a Local company Seattle Avionics at one time offered a deal it  was something like ~ $850 or so for a lifetime subscription for all the charts and approach plates . I really  hate all these nickle dime payment plans  databases  cell phones, ISP that  we have to pay as consumers. it might be financially stupid on my part but I like the one and done approach. 

The other thing is which doesn't necessarily apply to BK but all Avionics manufactures, is that the electronic components have real short life cycle (my wag is 18 months or so). Stating the obvious but some of us  owners  are going for  longevity because avionics are expensive we can to afford replacing them every 3 to 5 years would cost prohibitive . Some people bash Garmin for not supporting their equipment that hey made long ago  when it is really not a Garmin  problem .  It is  really a Electronics industry  problem and  FAA certification issues  and economic reasons   that  really are the driving  cost a long with supply and demand.  The Aviation market  is relatively small market when compared to the Cell phone market or computing equipment home entertainment  markets  which have short life cycles .

Not to mention as we  get older it another darn UI (user interface) to learn  if we keep upgrading our avionics  so often.

Simplicity is great it aligns with Mooney design philosophy.
