Hank Posted June 8, 2022 Report Posted June 8, 2022 You can't lean to a particular EGT value derived from a book or someone else's plane. Just a few mm difference in probe location will affect the gas temperature. Take your plane to altitude, lean the mixture while watching the EGT climb; it will peak then start to fall. Record the peak value, then move the mixture knob richer / leaner until the EGT value changes by the amount you want to be Rich of Peak / Lean of Peak. Do it like this every flight. With practice, you'll get faster, and learn about where to move the knob. Learn to use your engine monitor, it will save you both frustration and money in the long term. Quote
