bradp Posted May 29, 2020 Report Posted May 29, 2020 I wonder if they will provide GI275 features as software upgrades or pay per feature unlocks. re the TC thing this is what I did. I don’t recall the AC but it boils down to an AI needs to be on a separate power supply and have a ball to replace the TC Quote

With the OAT sensor, it can be primary turn coordinator as well; small markers for standard rate turns appear on the roll scale above a certain airspeed. So yes, it replaces all six instruments. I beat this to death with both my installer and Garmin support. It's not what the website depicts, but that's the text in the STC and installation manual. I haven't seen the installation manual myself, but that's not for lack of trying... We kept the airspeed and altitude indicators for lack of better use for the space, but they were not required. I use the ASI mainly as a TAS calculator now, which curiously the GI 275 does not display (though it does record). Done again, I'd remove the altimeter and keep the VSI. The speed and altitude tapes were easy to get used to. The VSI is clear but small. I think a standard gauge is easier to read and observe trends. Also, don't know if I'm a fan of how it displays 100 fpm in tenths, i.e. 500 fpm is displayed as 0.5. If you’re going to fly in the clouds I would get a backup attitude source. A vacuum based attitude indicator makes an inexpensive back up for attitude. Quote

aviatoreb Posted September 26, 2021 Report Posted September 26, 2021 I'm going to head over to the hangar and see what version I have. Does anyone remember if it shows us version number when it boots up? I went specifically to get the version updated about a month ago when they came out with the improved access to the HSI/GPSS menu - what version was that? Was the already the recommended version being discussed by the FAA circular? Quote
