Would like to give you a suggestion.  In the front of the FAR/AIM there is a section that outlines all the chapters that apply to the various ratings (Private, Sport, IFR, etc).  In the 2011 edition, they are found under "Suggested Study List" and Instrument/CFII is found on page XII.  My instructor gave me the idea to look up each section, read, and summarize the key points in my own words.  I kept a notebook for each chapter, summarized in my own words.  It was a fantastic  way to really dig into the material and help me understand what the @#$% all the other books were talking about in this alien language.  I also studied the GLEIM test book until it makes me sick to even see it on my shelf.  Just make 100% sure you are using themost up to date GLEIM test prep book because they do update and add material.  These two methods got me a 96 on my written.  Best of Luck!
