While there is not much here to look at now - at least I did get the forums online.  I think this is key to starting any community website since it allows me to mold the devlopment to fit the needs of the people using it.  I will be starting another forum topic right after this one where I will outline the development plans for MooneySpace and allow all of you to comment on the concepts.

I guess I can post an intro here. My name is Mike and I am addicted to aviation. I am a retired A/P inspector from Skywest Airlines and mainly worked out of KPSP and KLAX. My flying life started in 1973 in a C-170 with my first owned aircraft being a Luscombe 8A, 1571K. I started my Mooney experience in 1998 with a 1957 150 horse woodpecker. I bought my current C in St Charles Il in 2000 and still have it. I have not flown the last couple years due to a medical issue with uric acid but should get medically recertified within a couple months. I am real glad to find this forum, like others the e-mail thing just did not work for me.

New guy intro here. Kwixdraw is Cliff Morris and M-20J 3721H.  I'm recently retired from law enforcement and will be spending time getting this tired old J back in tip top condition. She's had a tough life with an early damage history from a propstrike and nose gear being wiped off. Cam made metal later on and had a partial o'haul. Several years after I bought her she was on a leaseback deal while I worked on ratings and tried to get an A&P license in my spare time.  We went through the divorce from hades and she fell into disuse and out of annual so we have some catching up to do. She needs just about everything so questions and suggestions will be frequent. Thanks for all who participate and make this forum possible.

Just a quick hello from a new joiner.  I bought a Bravo nearly two years agoand have been looking for something like this, and just stumbled here where looking for something else!

I live in Switzerland but due to EU regs and so on, find it easier to keep the aircraft an hours drive away at Habsheim in France.  I used to run an elderly Arrow for about 10 years, and am now up to about 1700TT with and IR.

Look forward to learning a lot more here!

Hello Everyone, I have been lurking for a couple of days and figured I would join in the fun.  I am thinking strongly about getting back in the market for another Mooney.  It's been 3 years since I sold my last bird and I miss flying too much to stay out any longer.  I can't stand flying commercial !!! In fact I hate it...not so much the flying part, just the miserable experience getting on the plane.  Anyway, I've got about 700 hrs in Mooneys.  My first was a nice 65 M20C model that was well equipped but lacked get up and go.  Carb heat was a drag.  Then I got a Rocket.... now we are talking, but after about 6 years of owning her, flying less and less every year, and watching fuel prices climb, I decided to let her go.  Now me and a couple of friends will split the fixed costs and that should help a lot.  Don't know what it'll be yet, probably a J, but maybe a K.

I fly a Mooney M20C out here in West Texas. It's not my plane, it's my girlfriends grandfathers. He has lost his medical recently so I've been his private pilot! I've gotten some good retractable time out of it, and it's been a lot of fun.

 

We were going to go fly Xmas day, but it rained and then froze the night before and we werent able to get it started at 6:00am. Imagine that.

 

Hope this board is pretty active!

I'm a low time pilot with 200 hours  who bought a Piper Warrior last year to build time and put about 100 hours on it. Now I'm ready to sell and get a 201 for some serious cross country travel.  I'll be retiring from the military in July and will have lots of free time for training and travel. I haven't yet completed my instrument rating and after doing some reading on other Mooneyspace forums, I'm getting the feeling that I'll have some insurance issues. I'm happy to do as much dual time as is required and finish my instrument rating in the 201.  Does this sound reasonable?

Rainman, you shouldn't have any trouble with insurance.  I had just over 100 hours and no instrument rating when I bought my '75F last year and got a nice premium from Falcon Insurance out in Kerrville.  They did require a minimum amount of dual instruction and then 10 additional hours solo before carrying passengers.

Thanks Randy, I live in Boerne and keep my Warrior there.  Once it's sold, I'll get serious about buying a Mooney.  I'm still very busy at my Air Force job, but when that ends in July my attention will switch full time to my aviation pursuits.  I'll watch this forum for information and I'll check out Falcon Insurance. (Right now I have insurance through AOPA)

Progress has been made, I've sold my Piper Warrior and purchased a nice low time engine 1979 M20K.  The insurance is as Randy stated.  They simply require 10 hours of dual time and 10 hours of solo before carrying passengers....they'd also like a bit more money.  My hangar neighbor (and Mooney 201 owner) recommended a very experienced Mooney transition instructor so I  look forward to joining the ranks of the "Mooniacs". Thanks guys/gals

I joined your site the other week.  I have been checking it out and getting the vibe of the board for a week or so.  Everyone seems pretty easy going and very helpful. I've been members of all types of forums and will say you guys have a good thing going and lot's of activity.   Had my ticket for a couple of years just had my BFR and finally getting around to purchasing my first aircraft. Been flying a friends 172 the past 2 years.  I'm pretty convinced it's a going to be a Mooney.   I have 9 hrs in a C model with a J-bar and they fly great.  I've met one of our other members here in the Atl area.  Jimfinleysr.  So far so good with the start of a partnership and friendship. We've eyeballed a J model we want take the next step with.  I feel he will really be an asset to me in my continued quest of knowledge imparting his 28 plus years of flying.  He's owned 5 aircraft and has his MEI & a commercial rating.  I've done a bunch of research on partnerships and we really get along well.  Our flying needs match, both financially sound etc, So we are going to start the process of working through a partnership agreement to iron out all the uncomfortable topics to prevent issues down the road.  I'm looking forward to learning with you guys and girls and would love to hear whatever advice or input anyone could share.   I am also interesting in locating a CFII in the area to help me with transition and my instrument rating.   Someone with Mooney experience is what i'm hoping for.  Please feel free to Pm me.
