TLSDriver Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 My electrim trim is not working. For the life of me I can't find a circuit breaker for it. Could it be combined with another breaker? Any chance the breaker is located away from the panel with all the other breakers? Thanks David Quote
Piloto Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 The "ELEV TRIM" rocker switch at the bottom of the panel is also a circuit breaker. To reset it just turn on and off the switch. On the yoke there are two switches wired in series to prevent a runaway condition if a switch gets stuck. If you have the split switches paddles they must be pushed simultaneously to activate the trim motor. If one of the switches is bad you will not be able to activate the trim motor. José Quote
TLSDriver Posted July 9, 2011 Author Report Posted July 9, 2011 Thanks for explaining where it is. I tried turning it on and off. Sounds like it is time for the shop. David Quote
jetdriven Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Ours quit on our 77 201 and turned out to be the diodes in the circuit. They were soldered in to the wires, then put inside a plastic tube and silk tied to a fuselage tube on the right side fuselage, right near that ram air inlet. Fixed it for $2.49, a few curse words, and about 4 hours of finding it. Quote
201er Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Electric trim in '78 201 broke recently. Worked in one direction but not the other. Switch needed to be replaced. Quote
Zulee Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 I am dealing with the same issue in my 81 J and just replaced the switch itself about one year ago. The diode comment was interesting, I will make the mechanic checks that first. Thanks for that Quote

Zulee Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 800.00 going through numerous shops and finally found one in Atlanta for $250. At that time the trim was totally inop and the new switch fixed it but now I am experiencing what you've described...I can trim down but will not respond up. Another post mentioned diodes in the line between switch and motor. So I wouldn't discount that as being the issue and not the switch at all. I presume your mechanic checked power between the switch and motor as a first step? I will ask my mechanic about the source for switch when I see him Monday Quote
Zulee Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 Just heard from my mechanic Blaze Aviation, ask for Mat 404-767-9333 Good luck Rick Quote
Zulee Posted March 25, 2012 Report Posted March 25, 2012 Just realized you were not talking to me...lol. Sorry about that Quote
laytonl Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 In my 78J, the trim switch mechanism is actually comprised of three micro-switches. The switches can be found at Digi-Key or some other electronics supplier for about $10 each. Wiring the little buggers is a pain though. Lee Quote
OR75 Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 could you attach a link to the item on Digi Key (or other) Thanks ! Quote
gjkirsch Posted March 28, 2012 Report Posted March 28, 2012 Mine stoped working but it was caused by a faulty switch in the autopilot disconnect switch and it was about $125. I thought I won the lottery! Quote
