McMooney Posted October 3, 2018 Report Posted October 3, 2018 Adding a GPS to my bird, wondering what it would take to get a gps to work with the Brittain NavFlite II( think it's a B5) It does work being connected to the Nav radios but you have to set the magnetic heading to match the radial you're following. wierd Quote

I don’t believe that works with your GPS. It works with a DG with AP output. Just set the heading bug where you like and it will fly that heading. If you want to couple to your GPS you need Accutrak. McMooney Posted October 3, 2018 Author Report Posted October 3, 2018 Mine isn't connected to the DG. it has a heading knob on the autopilot for magnetic heading( flux valve is in tail ). you set the radial with your obs, then turn the knob on the ap to match. not sure how that would work with gps. Hank Posted October 3, 2018 Report Posted October 3, 2018 Good luck with that one! As Hector mentioned, I have an AccuFlite operated by a heading bug on my DG, and an AccuTrak II that can run on either my GPS or Nav2 radio [determined by a switch on the Brittain unit]. Never seen or heard of a Nav Flite . . . . . Quote

If it is a typical 430 or 530, switching between GPS and VLOC can switch the left/right guidance and you are all set. If you have an independent GPS, it depends if it has analog left/right out. Most panel mount units have this option. If I'm right, the NavFlite is like a combination AccuTrak and Accuflite and uses the HDG portion to keep you generally in the right direction. Quote
