Good Afternoon.... I have a 2007 Mooney Ovation 3 with a Garmin G1000 and just started using/playing with the electronic checklists and noticed the emergency portion seems to be missing. Does anyone know if there should be a emergency electronic checklist or do we just rely on the one in the POH.

Thanks in advance

Since no one has replied to your question, I'll take a stab at it. First of all, let me state that I have absolutely ZERO time behind a Garmin G1000 so that will tell you how much credence you should attach to what I'm going to say. However, I do have close to 10,000 hours behind Collins and Honeywell systems and they both require you to input you're desired emergency and abnormal checklists. I think this is done for liability reasons - there are variations between the manufacturers' and the training providers. My guess it that Garmin (and Collins and Honeywell) just wants you to pick who/what you're going to use and input yourself. That way, if there's ever an issue, the monkey is on your back and not theirs.

They are not included in the chcecklist file from Mooney. You need to use the a program that should be on one of your SD cards to edit the checklist and add what you want for the Emergency section. At the same time you can edit out things in the exsiting checklist that you find unneeded (like some of the marketing stuff Mooney put in there). If you look at the last upgrade SB from Mooney from fall of 2008, you will see a section on what to name the file for the particular airframe.

Bob H. is correct.  I too drive a 2007 O3 and you can use the FMS knob on the MFD to customize your normal and emergency procedures.  To access and edit the emergency procedures, use the "EMERGCY" softkey on the MFD.  This softkey is only available after you select the "CHKLIST" softkey.  Hope this helps.

While i was made aware of this last year during transition training in SAT, i have not taken the time to play with this functionality.  PIREP would be appreciated.

Bob,

Thanks for the advice.... I looked at the top right SD card and the checlist file is a *.ACE file and I have no idea what program to use to open or edit it.....Was I suppose to get the editor from Mooney or is it somehow done from the G1000? This is probably a really stupid question but I can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks

It is a program supplied by Garmin I believe. email me directly and I can get it to you. There is no reaso n to buy it. You edit the checklist file on a WIN machine using the ACE program/SD reader and save the file with appropriate file name for your airframe type.

I went through this exercise collecting the files for an Acclaim I just bought so I put up the files that I think you need. I do not have the Ovation file, sorry. I run the editor on an old XP that runs under VMware on my Mac. Seems to run fine there.

Congrats on your first post, Austin...

There is a much more recent thread on using electronic checklists with Big G avionics around here...

It would probably help if you were a bit more specific about the plane you have...?

Best regards,

Thanks for the response!  I'll do another search to find that more recent thread.

I'm looking for the checklist for the G1000 MFD in a M20R Ovation 2.

Thanks!

Austin,

I believe this is the thread that Anthony was referring to.
