Thanks for passing this along David.  I found the comparisons to the Cirrus interesting.  A lot is made about speed comparisons, fuel burn, cargo etc where it looks like the Ovation comes out slight ahead and as he notes, probably due to the retract landing gear.  But I wonder about cost comparisons and utility of having fixed gear versus retract.  It might be worth giving up slight extra speed advantage to have fixed gear.

I don’t think the fixed gear vs retract makes any difference in cost whatsoever.  No savings in insurance or noticeable difference in maintenance when compared to all the other cost associated with owing a high performance single.
