capnrjbaker Posted January 29, 2017 Report Posted January 29, 2017 Does anyone have experiences with a Garmin G5 installation? I'm getting estimates of $1500-$2900 (no WAAS antenna) which seems high based on the Garmin description of "easy installation". As much as I like the idea of a non vacuum driven AI it's hard to swallow an install cost that exceeds the cost of the unit. Thanks
air cooled dad Posted January 29, 2017 Report Posted January 29, 2017 My install was quoted at $2700. $2100 for the unit plus $600 for the install. Goes in hopefully in a couple weeks. Jason 1
capnrjbaker Posted January 29, 2017 Author Report Posted January 29, 2017 Tks, the IA doing my annual estimates 16 hours. Let me know how it plays out please. If you're doing it local maybe I'll drop mine off with your folks.
NotarPilot Posted January 29, 2017 Report Posted January 29, 2017 (edited) I paid $684 (just checked my invoice) to install mine last month. I waited while he did it but it took most of the day. It was his first install and this included extra work he had to do to file out the top of the hole to make it fit above my KCS-55. So in other words it wasn't a simple swap out but even with that extra work it was still less than $700 with High Desert Avionics. Edited January 29, 2017 by NotarPilot
AaronDC8402 Posted January 30, 2017 Report Posted January 30, 2017 Only $600 labor to get one installed in our J. Very straight forward if you can connect it to a WAAS GPS. There is a thread in the Avionics section with a few others reporting their install cost as well.
