Drew_Wagner Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 What is the port labeled 12 volt in the attached screenshot? Is that for panel powered headset? There is one on both sides. Quote
Marauder Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 It looks like a headset Lemo plug. Quote
MB65E Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 Looks like a 12v plug for a headset Quote
Drew_Wagner Posted November 3, 2016 Author Report Posted November 3, 2016 Ok so if I get a headset with lemon plug that will power the headset and provide audio? Please excuse my ignorance on this! that was my initial thought but I couldn't get a good idea if the size and form factor of a lemo plug online. Thanks for the info. Quote
Drew_Wagner Posted November 3, 2016 Author Report Posted November 3, 2016 Autocorrect....Lemo, not lemon Quote
carusoam Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 Look up what a Lemo plug looks like and compare to what you have. I get the feeling if you don't know, You may get a surprise. Plugging in an expensive headset without checking +/- could be bad. That looks on the internet like an ordinary plug that has been used. Lemo plugs have been built with additional equipment protection into them... You may find your wiring diagram has been updated to reflect this change. Good luck. Best regards, -a- Quote
Drew_Wagner Posted November 3, 2016 Author Report Posted November 3, 2016 Good idea. I'll put the voltmeter to it and also check the logs to see if I can find any details. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
LANCECASPER Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 That's not a lemo plug, but looks like what the Telex Headsets used for panel power. Quote
M20F-1968 Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 I can not see enough detail in your drawing, but David Clark ENC headsets hav a panel mount plug that provides current and audio connections. It may be one of those/ John Breda Quote
Marauder Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 Get a really close and clear picture of the inner part of the port. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
buddy Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 Looks like microphone port, I think that was where it was in my 201. Quote
Guest Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like there is a centre pin in there. Clarence Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 With a center pin it is likely a simple 12V power plug for some portable device. There are many round 12V connectors out there... If it were me, I'd consider putting a USB power jack in that location instead.Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk Quote

thinwing Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 Make sure it's fused ,Chinese made ,radio shack plugs were 1.99 each and had solder lugs on the back.Center insulator was low temp nylon that melts easily when soldering. My opinion...if it's not fused,it's a fire hazard Quote
Drew_Wagner Posted November 4, 2016 Author Report Posted November 4, 2016 Here it is close up. Definitley not LEMO. Quote
Drew_Wagner Posted November 4, 2016 Author Report Posted November 4, 2016 Yeah I don't think I will be keeping those at annual...I wonder if these could be causing the radio noise I have found impossible to troubleshoot? I was thinking about installing that Mid Continent digital clock with dual USB. Anyone with a PIREP? Quote
carusoam Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 Yes, Drew. There are pireps for that. About three threads... https://www.aircraftspruce.com/pages/in/chronometers_midcont/mcicharger10-05774.php I'm here to help... -a- Quote
