jcollier Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 Does anyone know of any decent credit cards out there that when buying aviation fuel, there could be some side benefits? I figure if I'm going to purchase the fuel, I might as well get some benefits if they are out there. Thanks
Hank Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 I just use my USAA Rewards Visa card, which I also used for flight training. Points add up quickly! 2
Browncbr1 Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 marriott rewards chase visa... points will get you hotel stays, and you get several free nights per year automatically. 1
DXB Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 Not a big BOA fan, but Bank of America Cash Rewards gives 3% back on fuel purchases, including avgas. If you carry keep sizeable balances in savings/checking with them, they give an additional 2% back. So 5% back ain't bad. 1

I have the BOA AOPA card but have never gotten the 3% on aviation fuel (no problem on the regular gas pump for cars). How do you go about getting the credit for Avgas? 1

It just appears on my statement - at least on self serve card swipe purchases - not sure when I pay at FBO desk for full serve. Note I have the Cash Rewards BOA card, not the AOPA one. 1

One Mooney owner I know has visited over 90 countries now and does it all using credit card points. With your upcoming PPI, trip back to SF, you can meet the spend easily on one, and most likely 2 before the end of June. 1
Robert C. Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 Thanks Dev, The BOA AOPA card is also a cash rewards card and I get the 3% on gas station transactions. I'll call their help line and ask why I'm not seeing avgas fuel purchases show up. 1
jcollier Posted May 25, 2016 Author Report Posted May 25, 2016 Thanks so much everyone for the suggestions. I'm definitely going to take advantage if I can. 2 hours ago, Robert C. said: Thanks Dev, The BOA AOPA card is also a cash rewards card and I get the 3% on gas station transactions. Bob - S50 Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 J If you end up doing Angel Flights, get the Phillips 66 card. If you are flying an Angel Flight and stop at a Phillips branded FBO, and buy their gas with the Phillips card, you can fill out a form and get a rebate of $1/gallon. Bob 1
Robert C. Posted May 27, 2016 Report Posted May 27, 2016 Ok, I figured it out. BoA AOPA cash rewards card does give 3% on Avgas at self service pumps. I checked some statements and found the rebate 1
