In most cases, as the Jeff Van West/IFR Magazine/AvWeb video points out, the "airway" will be in your flight plan to begin with since it was was probably part of your clearance or loaded as part of a SID. And, as Bob points out, most of the time, you will be given a heading to intercept. If not, you can, of course, ask for one and solve the problem that way. In that case, it's a simple matter of getting there and having automatic sequencing take over. At worse, you can activate the appropriate leg and have the 400/500 or 600/700 create the intercept. What you kind of need to do is create the scenario you want to test and run in on the simulator to see how it works. Quote
