The-sky-captain Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 While cleaning the belly and landing gear last night I noticed something that looked amiss on my nose gear. While looking at it from behind there is a small screw type apparatus to the right of the shock disc. To the left, in the same position is an empty hole. I assume the screw should be here as well. So what is the name of this , can I install it myself and what does it do? I'm guessing I can get it from the usual Mooney supplier suspects. Thanks... Quote

The-sky-captain Posted September 27, 2010 Author Report Posted September 27, 2010 JoeSpeed- Thanks for the link. Talked to LASAR and they said that the hole on either side of the shock disc is a heat release point from when the tubing was welded. The small, mushroom shaped hardware is just something to stop up the hole with. Quote
Kwixdraw Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Squirt so ACF-50/ Corrosion-X in there and seal it up so you don't get moisture in there and end up with internal corrosion. Tube oil is good too if you have tube and fabric flying buddies. Quote
